I'm interested because I plan the Camaro bar mod myself, also on a lowered `63. I don't see a problem with your relocate other than it being farther forward on the trailing arms it will have some lessened effect due to leverage. Maybe not a bad thing as there's some art as well as science to anti-roll bar usage.

Great thoughts ...I can move it back towards the axle somewhat and easily too....I will play with it before I start drilling...I think it can easily go back another 3"..but will have to drill another hole..not sure how much of a difference it will make

A suggestion – clamp the trailing arms bushings in place and push on the rear end to confirm the sway bar doesn't interferes with trailing arms. From angle of the photo, it looks like where the sway bar curves could make contact with the trailing arm.

I know it's a lot different than what you have going but I found this post and am going to set mine up very similarly very soon, if not this weekend.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...4&postcount=10

He ran it on the axle with the sway bar end links behind the axle. He added a 1" spacer between the frame and each bracket to achieve the correct width at the frame.

The way you have it, it looks a lot like the CPP setup and that seems to work well too so I don't think you could go wrong either way

Re: For those who have added the Camaro rear sway bar...

Thanx guys...all great info! FYI the sway bar clears the trailing arms on rotation...if I moved it back more it may not..an easy answer on weather I can move it back more or not..I believe it was Frank's Lagoon who also used the same factory holes to mount the brackets.

Re: For those who have added the Camaro rear sway bar...

I did the exact same thing on my truck. 7/8" rear bar flipped and moved forward on the trailing arms until the brackets fit tight against the frame.

I've been running it for about 2 years with no issues. It feels very firm in the back and doesn't seem to limit me in any way. This is the only picture I've got of the setup. I can take more or take measurements if you want.

Re: For those who have added the Camaro rear sway bar...

I did two things a bit different. First I used the factory hole which made alignment super easy but I drilled a second hole so I have two bolts holding the upper bracket in place. Second , I cut the spacer tube in half and put half on top of the sway bar bracket and got more clearance on the trailing arm like ACK mentioned. it does swing the bar down a bit but still not below the axle housing

Definitely wait until you've got the full weight on your suspension and have your ride height set before you set your bar up. If you set it up while jacked up or without full weight, your bar will pre-load at ride height and affect it's performance.

Check out RockTonka's post #288 on how to install Cameo rear sway bar. It's posted under My time killing project truck.
