Just put in the power steering and redid the wiring head to toe...

Also have new gauges, and new wheels and rubber... I will post as I can.. BUT I am not as good as some are at taking step pics

Is that the finished gauge panel in the truck?? Looks cool if it is.........are you building a hybrid low-high hump tranny cover? Good looking project.

I did a instrument cluster kinda like that on a '65 I had years ago. took out the black panel and polished it with a wire wheel. the writing is on the glass, looked pretty cool, wish i had pics

All digital from Dakota Digital. They sent wrong color (green) so it goes back (that's why plastic is still on it), and in a week or so I should have the correct color BLUE. Looks very coo1 ! Original dash will be for sale, in classifieds soon.

Wiring turned out to be very easy. Just seprate and do in sections no prob.

The power steering add:













Not bad for a first timer install. Had custom hoses made (measure fifteen times, cut once, lol). Drilled through fender well and used grommets for neater install). You can see the a little bit of the wiring redone in the engine bay, much neater and no odd wires with no beginning and no end...lol

of power steering, new ididit steering column. I have a new (old) steering wheel coming as well. But it is coming from Japan, so it may be a while...lol. Very cool, something out of the ordinary. After I took this pic, I did take my plasma cutter to the sheet metal where the steering univeral joint comes through the fender well to open it up a bit!







Pics of new wheels and tires....

Truck sits on 2.5 inch drop spindles in front and 5 inch dropped springs in rear. Ford nine inch rear end. 4 wheel power disc brakes. (5 on 5). Wheels are American Racing Torquelite 18x8. Tires are Faulken 452 (LMAO! they are Y speed rated - over 184 mph .. like I need that) 255-45/18. Oh yea.. grill is from a 61 obviously even though its a 62. I like the dual headlights

It is not, that was the original, the finished panel is digital. It is a low hump I believe (shift was originally on floor I think, although the original column had shift linkage on it as well). Just missing that front piece but it will all be fixed when I do the interior.

Next up is major steam clean, then moving the fuel tank to the rear and possibly putting a wood bed in it (has sheets of plywood now, although it makes for easy access )

after that Interior - exterior I like the way it is, although my kids keep telling me to paint it.

Then the engine compartment and air. Air could be sooner than later because I live in vegas!

Nice build! The power steering did you have to change the arm on it? On mine I kept it the same but I'm still at the frame build.

Only changed the pitman arm. All other geometry remained the same. I have seen some other installs that go through the frame for the gear box install, where mine is notched. Could be the year, could be my amatuer install..lol.. but it all lined up.

EZ Wiring and zero problems... really very easy. Everything is marked.

and 25% the cost of most others.... I did see another that might have been worth a few extra bucks, just because of the way some of the circuits are handled and the mounting. Can't remember the brand but it has been mentioned on this site a few times.

cool I bought one from EZ a month ago, hadn't got around to that yet makes me feel more comfortable knowing someone else has used it and it worked out.

Have you gotten the chance to try out the power steering yet? I went to a quick ratio box and have a similar tire/wheel combo.........turns like its on rails!!!!!!

Oh yaaa.. been driving it around.. we have a Hot Rod nite at a local bar "Hogs and Heifers" tomorrow nite... will be there. In fact drove around to day... what a difference, best thing I did so far!

Thanks... appreciate that! Especially from someone that does this for a living!!!

I am getting there... I don't have all the resources or knowledge to go any faster.. it probably takes me twice as long to do something as someone that has done all this before, but I love the challenge and learning, that's for sure. My son helps and he is learning and getting ideas for his 64. That one we are taking completely down to the frame and building it back over next two years. This one is my runner and will be updated a bit, as I go.

That's the way I did as a kid, and still do on occassion.....you learn from challenges, hands-on, and screws up too.
