I'm liking this build thread, but of course, I'm into cutting these trucks up and making them into monsters.

Re: my radical 60 build

Here is the doner car:
it is an 84 pontiac wagon, It is a canadian version, so it has a chevy motor and sheet metal , with pontiac badges.
I put the wheels on and got the ride hiegth, which is 6 inches on the front of the frame rail and 7 at the rear.
you can't tell, but it is all unbolted and almost ready for the camper jacks!

check out that snakepit of emissions junk!
Hiding under there is a relitively new goodwrench 350 with a 2004r !

Re: my radical 60 build

Some progress:
I got the wagon body off, and stripped all the stuff I needed, the body weighed almost 2000 pounds!
I put the front clip on the frame, the inner fenders contour to the frame rails like they were made for each other, and the front bumper brackets are in the right place too.
The frame was 6 inches off the ground with the wagon body on it, now it has raised up to 11 inches.
I was hoping to chanel the body a little bit,and not do any major lowering, but I don't think the truck will push the frame down as far as the wagon did, so I will probably have to cut a few coils , and Z the frame in the front.
There is about 5 inches between thee hood and air cleaner now, so I have some room to work with.

Re: my radical 60 build

I have just as much time in the doors as the cab, however he 2nd door is going alot faster than the first. I had a little rust repair to do on the bottom of the right door, and you can see the new nuts I welded on for the door panel.
Instead of cutting and welding through the skin on the door bottom, I just trimmed off the excess, and folded it over- alot less body work that way!
I set it up so that my cut on the inside was under the door panel - more body work avoided!

Re: my radical 60 build

I am finally getting the cab welded up.
I have one footwell left to go, and for some reason I have been trying to save the data tag. I should probably just pull it and hang it on the wall before it gets messed up.
some how I screwed up the measurement across the back of the cab, so I had to cut a filler piece off the scrap I had cut out; this is why it is good to hang on to all your scraps until the project is done.
I had to make a couple relief cuts on the corners to get them lined up.
I also had to do a little extra work on the driver rear corner, because I dropped it when I was putting it up on jackstands!
You can also see a little more of the finished (90%) door.

Re: my radical 60 build

I am setting up the new cab mounts now, I ended up just C notching all four cab support braces, that dropped the cab down enough that the rockers hang below the frame rails , which is what I wanted.
The hood just clears the aircleaner,so I won't be Zing the frame, the rocker is still 9 inches off the ground, so there are some cut coils in my future...
After a ton of measuring, and cutting an extra 3 inches out of the front fenders, and moving the cab forward, I am almost (1 inch short) to the dimensions and wheelbase of a short fleet.

Re: my radical 60 build

nhtc33d, I was inspired by the pink freak ,and I have sectioned and chopped my 60 elcamino, but that build keeps getting interrupted by other projects, the 26 T, this, and my 65 dd..... it is next though, after this one is roadworthy.
