Re: Hey Other Larry...
It's kind of a whirlwind now. Sorry we didn't make it out your way Leon (and Ryan )we ended up staying on I 70. Next summer will be more of a northern route. My aunt is from Newton so we will probably go through Iowa then.

Re: Hey Other Larry...
I have never made the complete trip on I-70 between Denver and I-15.
We were talking about St George today. I would love to spend some time there. I will finish up in Fresno and head back down to your territory tomorrow. I will be around Corona Friday. I'm going over to the Car and Truck Shop sometime Friday. I will probably begin the trip home Saturday. That will let us stop and smell the roses along the way. Be safe.

Re: Hey Other Larry...
leddzepp, we never made it down to your place. I went up to Fresno, collected my bounty, and when I got back to Barstow I hung a left.
I had my 55 apart at home, I wanted to get started on my new project and had doctors appointments coming up, so I decided the prudent thing to do was get on home and it's been a whirlwind since I got here. Funny how fast time gets away when your on the road. Catch ya on the next one.

Re: Hey Other Larry...
So did you take I-70 from 15 to Denver? There's a lot of scenic stuff along that route. I've been on all of it, just not all at once
I'm curious how long of a drive it is from Denver to Memphis. It's pretty much 8 hours to Denver from my place. Next time I get out that way I'll probably drive.

Re: Hey Other Larry...
I'll answer for Pritch, "Ya think?". I'd imagine you guessed right, knowing him. But who knows? Maybe it's the BBQ.
I've been across I-70 to Denver from here many times, but I've never been west of there on I-70 except picking it up a short ways in the Rockies connecting dots. Been across US160, I-80, and US40. Either ran up to Ft Collins to visit friends, drove over Rockie Mt National Park by way of Estes Park and picked up 40, or went south to 160 to go to Pagosa Springs and/or Taos/Santa Fe, or wove my way south through the Rockies. Never been through the Roosevelt Tunnel. Also took I-40 across to Flagstaff a few times.

Re: Hey Other Larry...
My better half and I climbed on our Electra Glide and headed east out of Durango toward Pagosa Springs one morning in 44 degree temp. 'bout froze our butts off.
We met friends in Pagosa Springs, had breakfast and headed south, then east through Angle Fire, Taos and spent the night in Clayton, NM. The next morning we headed across Oklahoma, and had the most miserably hot day on a motorcycle We ever experienced.

Re: Hey Other Larry...
Oh yeah.
And the BBQ! I'll usually take US 40 when I'm going to Colorado. I live 12 miles from the west end of it. (at least where it dies onto I 80) In fact, I'm headed to Steamboat Springs next weekend to meet up with my girlfriend who lives in Colorado Springs. I 70 is way out of the way for me. It's the long way to Denver from here. Sometimes, if I'm in a big hurry, I'll take I-80 thru Wyoming and take the cut-off at Laramie to Ft. Collins, but I really hate driving thru Wyoming. A thousand miles from Denver to Memphis? Add 500 to that. Whew. That's at least a 2 day drive for me, maybe 2 and a half. Maybe if the airlines re-think their attitude towards those who use their services, I'll re-think my attitude towards them. But until that happens, I'll drive to where I'm going.

Re: Hey Other Larry...
Steamboat Springs. I got my drivers license learners permit in Kremmling, CO just south of there in 1966. I rode the train from Granby, took my test, got the permit and rode the train home.
RE; driving through Wyoming. If you remember we talked about driving in Wyoming back in February. It was kind of hairy that first day. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=728996 I did get some shots of some of our trucks in Wyoming.

Re: Hey Other Larry...
I had a wonderful time in Craig, CO Thanksgiving '76. Was headed from Steamboat to SF and needed gas. Saw a guy at the county maintenance garage lot playing with his Chesapeake Bay Retriever to ask if he knew any gas stations open. Nope, but he'd ask a rancher to sell me some later, after they had a chance to have their Thanksgiving dinner. Well, that turned into hanging at the shop that night and a tour of Moffit County back country...Crossed the Snake R. checked out Blue Mt. saw all kinds of wildlife and mustangs, and on and on. We rode in the county Power Wagon. Those roads hadn't been surveyed in a while and ole Roger German figured that was the day for it. He had cooked up a helluva roast we had for Thanksgiving, along with a few snorts of whiskey, and music from his Riviera's 8-track (parked in the heated county quonset hut). It's pretty lonely out there and I think he loved having company. Yep, the good ole days of being young and free.

Re: Hey Other Larry...
I worked two days this week leddzepp, so please post those against time worked.
Just a heads up, I don't plan on working six weeks this year, so you probably better get somebody else to fill in for the rest of your six week vacation. If you come through Harrison again, you better give me some notice, because we finished the project, and they moved my little green house and replaced it with a girl in a kayak.

She don't need to worry about a paddle until the water gets up.

Re: Hey Other Larry...
Very interesting reading here,, I must of been gone from the forum for awhile when this all was shared,,
A few years ago when we were visiting our daughter in Denver we seen on the news that a big rock fell off a cliff and went right thru the I-70 highway between Denver and Utah ,, we wanted to take this highway to Salt Lake instead of north to I-80 They did open it up to one lane and we took the I-70 and on the way I took one of these photos from the lane next to the one that was shut down due to the hole in it,, It wasnt a rock that went thru the road it was a HUGE BOULDER ,, what a thought came to mind when thinking how if a car would of been there when it fell..

Re: Hey Other Larry...
It wasn't a boulder, it was a chunk of the mountain! I remember when that happened.
