Auto insurance after your truck is complete

What insurance company do you use after your truck or car is completed.
Do you get a appraisal?
What did you do or advice?

You should have insurance on your truck while you are building it if you have a good deal of money in it. Hagerty will insure it as long as it is under construction and will be completed in a year, I believe. They will do an agreed value and then you can raise it, if you choose to, once completed. American Collector's would not insure my Blazer while I an restoring it so I switched back to Hagerty.

Re: Auto insurance after your truck is complete

Mine's with Haggerty. There was some difference with them I liked but it's been so long I'm not sure what that was, and I think whatever it was is about the same now as the other classic carriers.

I always wonder about this company that pays to have their name blasted at Carlisle, Heacock Classic Car Insurance. I have never heard a thing about it except on the loud speaker at Carlisle. And it's been a few or more years now.

Talking Re: Auto insurance after your truck is complete

I had Hagerty's until they cancelled me for my son who doesn't even drive mine he has his own car's and because I carry his insurance they cancelled me. I have American classic now. Same coverage as Hagerty but cheaper and I pick who tows it.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Auto insurance after your truck is complete

I have Hagerty on mine while I'm building it. I have heard people have issues from Hagerty with big blowers, modified suspension, and narrowed axles though... I check all those boxes so I may have to go with another company when I update the value before putting it on the road. They've been great to deal with so far though, so maybe for a mild build or restoration they'd be fine.

Re: Auto insurance after your truck is complete

Does Hagerty or Grundy have limitations on miles per year. I am restoring one but I want to be able to put 8-10k a year on it while having good insurance.

Re: Auto insurance after your truck is complete

Hagerty asked me a lot of questions about how I used the truck and wanted to know how many miles I drove it per year... but they did not impose a limit on mileage. I think they will if your vehicle is valuable enough.

I use American Collectors Insurance

https://americancollectors.com/

Prices are good. Everything is agreed value coverage. I've never had to make a claim though.

I don't think Progressive does collector car insurance, but avoid them like the plague. I have had two claims against their insureds and got screwed to the wall both times.

Re: Auto insurance after your truck is complete

American Collectors was good for a while then they started balking at projects that weren't complete enough for them. I went to Hagerty and they have been fine. I have agreed value and they've insured almost anything I had wanted them to with exception of a Dodge Dakota Pickup that I told them I wanted to make a pace truck replica out of... Every year they come in cheapest so ive used them Ive never had a claim
