Introduction - 1970 C10 Suburban

Hello everyone...

I wanted to introduce myself and vehicle. I just picked a 1970 C10 Suburban from atp.

It has the original 350 SB. My goal is to get this driving again before we move in a couple months. Once we move, my son and I are planning to rebuild.

This is my first restoration, so I am sure I will have plenty questions. I grew up tinkering with cars, but never had the time or courage to take on a restoration. My son and I decided it was time for both us to learn and take on the challenge.

Dad: Geoff
Son: Gryphen

Last weekend we took delivery of the the truck, added a new battery and got nothing when trying to start the truck. Pulled the starter and solenoid and planning on installing this weekend.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. If not I will let you know how I end up this weekend.

Here is a blog I started to keep track of the progress.

Re: Introduction - 1970 C10 Suburban

First off Geoff (with a G) like me!!!!.... to the best board out there for these trucks/ burbs!!!....

I am glad someone picked up this burb from Adam (atp)...I know he really was trying to sell off all his trucks/ burbs...

I'm up in Cornelius....so not too far and would love to help out where needed....not a expert with these, but could pass along with what I've learned!!!....Also, it's very cool that you'll be doing this with your 12 yr old son....heck....I did the same thing, but I was 34 when my dad and brother decided it was time for me to learn too!!! check out my build thread for details!!!

Keep in touch and let me know if I can help you guys out!!!

Have fun and enjoy the build and time with your son! Geoff (also)

Awesome....check the regional board every now and then....we usually have a local get together in March/ April time.... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...t=381982called the 'Gathering of the Goofs'...come on out and meets some local folks...

Also, not sure you are aware....we here at the board like to follow along with the build as well, so you might want to post up a build thread here (it can serve as your 'blog' here)...http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/f...play.php?f=115

PS....we like LOTS of pictures

Re: Introduction - 1970 C10 Suburban

mods.....front disc brakes and a sway bar

that truck will be much better for your son.....lower insurance and more people and cargo capacity than a muscle car can provide. you can tow stuff with it, load up the back (especially easy with cargo doors), and it still has a chevy v8 in it. i bought my 72 burb because it is a beautiful old truck that with a little tlc can do the hard work just as well as a modern truck.
