I hope to make another trip to the track this year late summer/early fall.

My 60' times last year were in the 2.4-2.5 second range, and I have a feeling there isn't a whole lot of improvement on the 295/50/15's. My best 60' was leaving the line at about 1200 RPM's and just mashing it from there.

I'm running a 3.73 rear, and I was thinking about getting some slicks around 26.5 or 27" tall would be good for what I have -- is there a way to know what would be optimal? If memory serves, with the 295/50's I'm around 4500 RPM's at 100 MPH.

Drag radials or regular slicks? Brand? Thanks

Sounds about right. Im crossing at around 4200 with the same gears and a 28" tire. Your tire is just over an inch shorter so would spin up a little more. Our times are very similar and I'm hooking really good with the Hoosier DOT drag radial.

With that mph Id think you'd be into the high 13's and your 60'? Are you spinning real bad?

What brand of 295/50r15 are you using? I'd think that the same size tire in a Hoosier quick time would hook your truck. I ran these tires years ago and had really good luck with them.

They are El Dorado something 'or anothers

And from the point of launch at 1200, I'm fine until about 2000-2200 RPM's, and then they break loose.

If I tried to launch at a higher RPM, The tires would spin right off the line.

I'm sure with practice, I could get better with these tires, but I'm looking at minimizing my ET in the least amount of runs, so tires sounds like the way to go.

I'm leaning towards the Quick-Times in 295/50/15...

Which would give better traction... Quick Time, or like suggested above, the E.T. drags in 26X8.5?

I upgraded to 3/8 fuel line and Edelbrock Performer fuel pump (over stock rusty 5/16 with rusty tank) and Throley Tri-Y's with Magnaflow duals and X-pipe. I'm hoping to dip into the 13's this year, but doubt I can do it without lots of track time on these street sneakers.

If it were me, I'd go with the Hoosiers. You should have no problems hooking with them, and they're street-legal.

I used to run 275/60-15 Dunlop G/T Radials on my 70 short stepside.My best 60' time was 1.76 .1/8th mile on motor 7.99 1/4 mile 13.15 at 103 w/150 shot 12.49 at 113.I drove the truck everyday on pump gas,These tires worked real well for me.I also use stock rear suspension with 70-72 Monte Carlo rear springs and Air-Lift air bags.3:73 truck posi.Nothin special but it worked good,you just have to drive them off the line.

When you're dead, it's only a problem for the people around you, because you don't know you're dead. .....It's kinda the same when your STUPID. I just did my taxes and reviewed my SS statement. Thanks to the current administration it looks like I will only have to work till noon on the day of my funeral.
