Looking good. You will have your 57 back on the road long before I have my 56 back running.

You will have this back on the road in no time if you keep it up. This is helping me get back in gear on the 56.

The fan, AC and alt belt setup. I don't have the fan on or the adjuster for the alt but thats the general idea.

Re: Barn 57

Got some help today and made a lot of headway. Had quite a time getting all the panels to line up right, had to do a lot of press, pull and cussing.

I intended all along to run 2 belts, I just didn't have the other belt in that 1st mock up. I have pictures of the 2 belt set up now.

Should have it all together by Christmas. Its hard to make out but the passanger side is the new LED park light and the left is the OEM style. Also got one of the bumper bullets on.

Re: Barn 57

Out of the garage!! I took it around that block and the head job and new (non leaking) vacuum advance made a big difference! I didn't mean to spin but just gased it like I would have before.

Re: Barn 57

Ive had a couple 55's no 56's and a bunch of 57's. Im not putting your car down, but back when I was a kid that would have been a parts car only. It amazes me the crazy prices these cars are going for these days.

There used to be a 57 Bel Air two door hard top about a mile from my house. My buddy finally egged me on enough for me to stop in and ask if they wanted to sell. So I went up to the door. Yeah we might sell it ... oh ok, how much? How bout 200 dollars? It was my first decent 57. Only problem with it was someone had shoe horned a 409 in it ... back then it kind of made me mad cause there was a big hole in the firewall.

Keep up the good work. Looks like you are really going for it. Its a lucky car that someone like you found it.

Re: Barn 57

Oh my dad and I junked better, but now the numbers are getting lower the value will start to go up. We pulled a 55 Bel Air out of a swamp that had a good title and other than the roof that it was sitting on the rest of the body was perfect and it has all the opitions but power seats/windows or continetal kit. It would have made a nice roadster type car but we cut the dash out and floors, took the chrome off and scrapped the rest...
