1972 One Ton Flatbed

Im going to try and get the shop started on my 72 Ton truck and I just bought a red bench seat cover for a seat I already have .Truck currently has BuddyBuckets that I dyed black but probably taking it out to fund other projects .Seat and dash pad will be red ,will have a rubber mat in floor instead of ugly green carpet or maybe even bed liner ,it will be a working truck .How would it look if the door panels were black instead of red ? Show me what you got .Truck is white ,not sure about changing color yet but the white looks good enough .

Re: 1972 One Ton Flatbed

I think with red seat and dash pad the door panels will need to be dyed Red too .Nice truck ,mine is similar but the bed is ugly ,yours is nice .The bed is the major item to get worked on ,the cab is rust free .

Re: 1972 One Ton Flatbed

I have been wanting this one done a long time ,it has been at the bodyshop a couple of years just waiting .Dont know if this will be Its build thread or not but it may do .I cant really push hard on this one because the shop is not charging for this one .It will eventually have the Body Shop logo on the doors for advertising and it will stay up there unless I need it at home .I dont have room for it here so it will work for us both .Been several people trying to buy it up there and he tells em all the same thing ,Hell No it aint for sale .

I'm trying to learn Photoshop at the moment. So I used this as a quick and dirty practice. I took Chevyland's photo and played with the colors a bit. Ignore the weird steering wheel, and the limited skills.

It ain't great, but maybe it'll give you an idea as to what black and red would look like.

Personally, I think it would work. Depending on the shop logo colors.

Here is my '72. I use it a lot. It doesn't have a hoist on it but I am planing on adding one.

Didn't know if you were interested in other colors or not but I can delete it if not.....

Re: 1972 One Ton Flatbed

Let me ask you why you are considering black door panels with the rest red? Is it just something different, is it because that's just what you have, or...? Personally, I like it all matching just as factory did. What I think would look absolutely best with white body and red upholstery is red interior paint. With red interior in a white truck it's a lot of contrast but for me not enough red. I just think a whole chunk of red against white looks better than a whole lot of white/red/white/red/white. I always think of early 60s Impalas in those colors with a whole red interior. Upscale '67 trucks with red interior are super cool.

Re: 1972 One Ton Flatbed

The ones in it are green ,I was already planning black interior ,but I just bought a red seat cover so I decided to go red .After seeing the full red interior I may try dying the green ones to red .I have one nice black door panel.

Re: 1972 One Ton Flatbed

Ok, just wondering. How about those all red pictures, lookin' good ey? That's what I had planned for my '67, with the outside still undecided. I had all the great red stuff, just waiting to cover seat and door panels. THEN... I was offered a super nice set of buddy buckets done exactly how I wanted, but in black. I decided to use that and stay all black upholstery and any paint will work. I had my heart set on the red a long time. I think with the black I will paint interior same as outside.

Hey, John. I vote red seat, dash pad, and door panels on the white one ton. Put me in line on those buddy buckets for the '67.

Just a couple more. I think the white exterior with the bright red interior just looks real clean and sharp.

personally this is my favorite one, love the color, like the 5 speed (that's what i think it is), and the I-did-it collumn (or one very similar) looks right at home!!

Thanks Kehstr. Yes, it's an NV4500 5 speed overdrive. I still has the granny low but it also has the overdrive. Best of both worlds....
