Doesn't show the new damper, gaskets, bolts or more importantly the Vortecs and intake I got from Indian113.

And for those curious, it is a voodoo 250/256.

Good thing I took this week off!!!!

Thanks Ryan, hope to have it going tomorrow. The one and off rain today slowed it some.

Re: Brown-Sleigh Santa showed up today

Made some more progress. After fighting getting the oil pan down to clear the timing cover, I decided to go ahead and put on the heads. Cover up them holes and stop any flash rust.

After that and a brain clearing conversation with Indian113 I found I was fighting myself, not the pan. I had missed a couple bolts So then got the timing cover, timing set off.

Tomorrow I should have the cam in etc.

Re: Brown-Sleigh Santa showed up today

No pics today, but I did get the cam swapped, timing set installed and the balancer as well. I had measured the new cam and verified there was enough room to pull it out without removing the grill. Only an inch or so, but that was enough.

Not as much done as I would have liked, but had lunch with my dad and later had a wedding rehearsal and dinner to go to. Not mine, a friend/co-worker's. Nothing kills the job like having to stop to clean up twice in one day.

We will see how the weather is tomorrow, before heading off to wedding.

Re: Brown-Sleigh Santa showed up today

Got a few minor things done Saturday but not a whole lot.

Sunday I started by removing some obsolete wiring, 12v from starter to distributor and the TSC wiring. This led to finding the bolts for the starter solenoid were MISSING and to think I had no troubles starting it. Got the balancer pulley installed. Installed new water pump. Not real productive but that's ok.

Today---
Dropped starter to find out bolt size for solenoid mounting, replaced bolts and put starter back. Put lifters in and cleaned and installed push rods. Set pre-load and installed intake. Due to the temp sensor size issue, put original into intake for now. Fuel pump hooked back up along with alt, but need different belt now-valve cover in the way, but should have enough adjustment. Need to cut and weld the kick-down bracket to fit the wider bolt pattern. Installed water pump pulley.

The old balancer must not have been on all the way, I removed the washers used to shim the alt and PS pump out to line up the belts. Not needed now. New balancer also has the correct timing mark too!!

Hell is in the details!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's looking a lot like an engine now!

IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, its been alive for a week now, wanted to make sure it was all good and didn't have an o-crap moment.

Had to add 2 inches to the alt arm to clear the valve covers of course.

Almost had it fired up last saturday, but was cleaning schmutz from the plug wires and found one was cut and another had a burn spot. NO ONE had a decent set of wires in stock, AZ and Oreilly's had store brands, but wasnt' gonna waste my money on those and missed Oreilly's warehouse by 1 hour. Bought a set of BWD's and picked them up Sunday morning at the warehouse.

Double, triple and quadruple checked everything and fired it up early Sunday afternoon. Took most of the 20 min. break in to get rid of all the anitfreeze that ran down the exhaust pipes from pulling the heads. Nope, didn't actually drain the block first. I'm sure my neighbors loved me for that one

Runs great, MUCH louder than it was before, especially when you get on it. Took a couple videos with my phone, they are't great, but I'll try to get em uploaded.

Now I HAVE to drive it for another 500 miles to continue the break-in
