Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN

Well i thought I was going to post a video of it running this weekend but it seems that the item on the list keeps getting longer. For example a manual fan on switch. So we are not ready, oh and the steering pump, just thought of that! Had the ecm worked on by RPM motorsport in Santa Clarita so that's ready.

Very Nice piece but it needs to be 1.25 for ls motors. Nice sales pitch.

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN

with a proper cooling system you should not need a manual fan switch
i go to a lot of cruises that are stop and go for miles
all my friends have to park their vehicles and hop in mine to cruise
pretty sweet when they hop in and see the ac is on too

get 'er done

Aircraft mechanics have a fall back on matter what. Made a wire 2" long with 2 spade lugs so I could bridge the thermostats in my 1964, it still sits in the glove box after 15 years unused, but I have a backup.

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN

Well it's been awhile. So today we started her up, but we Have a wiring issue. We could not get it to turn off. I took power for the key switch from the alternator instead of the battery after kill switch, so even with the kill switch off it still ran because it was getting power from the alternator. Ended up pulling the ground at the fuel pump. Will figure out how to post video>

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN

Just a bump to ask if you have any new progress to report? You asked about the mirror some time ago and I just saw what looks to be a similar setup - it is off a Porsche 944. Search: tbrown5079 - "56 Cameo Build" see his post 94 and 103. The installation sure looks slick. The 944 mirrors can be had for about $150.00. I also looked at an article about installing Porsche Teardrop mirrors from a Porsche 968 on a Porsche 944 - looks to be a direct swap between those two models, thus the 968 mirrors would work on your truck. Of course the 968 Mirrors are app $500.00 a pair!

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN

Sorry for not posting. But there has been no progress to speak of. Works crazy right now. New titles have been listed to my job description( AOG, aircraft on ground, HOT, Mister fix it ). The company thought it wise to give golden hand shakes, and get rid of all the experience.
