Re: Anyone running chrome reverse wheels?

When I painted my truck the first time I put chrome reverse wheels with Baby Moons on it because they were cheap and looked good

Re: Anyone running chrome reverse wheels?

I'm not sure if these are reverse wheels. Also not sure why anyone would want them without some kind of cap.

Re: Anyone running chrome reverse wheels?

Chrome reverse with no caps are classic hot rod look. I love that look on deuce coupes and 55-57 chevs. Haven't seen it on a 67-72. WOuld be anxious to see what it looks like on a satin black pinstripped truck.

Re: Anyone running chrome reverse wheels?

I did have 15" reverse chromes with moons on my 70 C20. They, in my opinion, looked great. I tried to find them again at a resonable price but no luck. I really wanted to replace them in 16", no luck.

Back to stock rims and caps for me.

Re: Anyone running chrome reverse wheels?

I bought these new vintage 6-lug wheels off of this board.
(two 15x6's and two 15x8's)
Just waiting to use them on the right truck.

Re: Anyone running chrome reverse wheels?

All the trucks shown don't have chrome reverse wheels. Those wheels are known as "chrome smoothies". The difference is chrome revers are deep dish OEM style wheels that are chromed and smoothies are aftermarket with no vents and only accept baby moons using inner nubs...until Wheel Vintiques came along and started making Vette rallyes for multiple vehicles with a small variety of caps the mount this way.

I never ran chrome reverse because they ended up rusty. But now that a truck may sit in a garage, pretty much only driven on sunny days, and kept clean as a whistle they make a great choice for a period correct look. Guys ran these open as much as with baby moons...depended on if it was a custom look or a badass look desired. It was also common to run OEM wheels painted black with no caps or deep dish ones...generally with chrome acorn lugs. I had a '65 F85 (4spd) with black deep dish that was tough as nails

Yep, I have Chrome Appliance wheels that have the basket style wire inserts on my 57. I took off the wire baskets and running around on just the chrome rim and center cap.

Sure would like to find a set of reverse chromes in 14" or 15" that are narrow.

Re: Anyone running chrome reverse wheels?

Powell72 has these on his light blue '67 Short Fleetside. I have powder coated 8s for my '67 era hot truck, but when the truck is done it will have chrome reverse
