Front motor mount perch help

I removed my engine a while ago to rebuild it, doing an auto tranny swap from a 3ott. I don't seem to recall if there was any rubber part on the front motor mount perches. If I remember correctly when I removed the motror the block sat right on those perches with a single bolt through the perch into the block. Does this make sense, shouldn't there be some rubber or bushing for vibration?

I cant seem to find any pictures showing the perch with anything else.

You should have motor mounts that bolt with 3 bolts to the engine then the motor with the mounts attached will set down on the perches and a bolt will screw into the motor mount from the bottom of the perch into the motor mount.

The PO must have had it set up different as I know for sure that when I first took the motor out, I only removed one bolt and it went through the perch into the block. there was nothing attached to the motor when I removed it.

There would have had to be something bolted to the block. There are no holes in the block that would line up directly with the frame mount brackets. If the frame mount brackets have been modified or custom built it could be possible but it wouldn't be hard to tell if that was done. How about some pictures of the frame brackets? Below is what normally mounts to the block for the SBC.

Edit: Maybe I should have asked first... Is this a V-8 or I6?

These are the perches and the only 4 bolts I took out. The 2 small bolts on the left were from the front.

The 2 small bolts go in from the bottom of your perches and screw into the motor mounts that loc doc pictured above those 2 rubber isolated mounts are screwed to the block , The 2 longer bolts were used to mount the bell housing to the frame cross member and are no longer needed if you switched over to auto .

in one of your pictures it looks like you still have the manual cross member in place ? your going to have to change that to one for an automatic .

To be honest, I did not take a good look at the block before I sent it to the machine shop. Hopefully those mounts are still on there. Makes sense now.

Yes, I am removing that cross member as soon as I get the engine back. Have the new one for the auto tranny ready to go. Little nervous about the swap, hopefully I can get it all back together!!

BUY NEW engine mounts don't reuse the old ones when they are inexpensive and easy to change while it's out .

In your pictures it looks like you have the perches swapped. Lower bolt holes should line up.

I did not put the perches in so not sure. I was hoping to just drop the motor back in the same as it was, so was not going to change anything with the front motor mounts.

Which lower bolt holes are you referring to?

The perches are mounted on the top to the frame with two bolts, and on the bottom to the cross member with one bolt.

The picture shows the lower bolt location not lined up with the cross member.

Is this a six cylinder, or V8?

This is how the perches are set in from the PO. The motor was in place with them like this so I know it worked. This was a new motor (old new motor) put in so I think they just bolted the perches in to make the new motor fit.

You have the engine stands located and bolted on correctly. The front of the stands over hang the crossmember a little bit.
