What is this?

Long story short I bought this sweet all OG cali 72 shortbed in 2001. I had a fender bender in 2004 and it's sat in the garage since then, Doing nothing. My wife told me I either work on it or sell it. So for now I've started working on it. I'm a greenhorn so yea...

Anyways I found this on the rear passenger bulb...any ideas?

What she used to look like...

and ouch, I got starting taking the front clip apart today.

Re: What is this?

U-Haul used to install bulbs like that back in the day when you rented a trailer and didnt have a light plug for the trailer. Would put one in both tail light sockets to hook to trailer.

That's a pigtail for towing

Hey buddy, welcome to the site. I hope you like it. What you will find is we like to keep this site family friendly. It's not that I don't use the word in the content of my posts at times, but I would suggest you not put swear words in your titles for all to see whether they look at your thread or not. I'm no Puritan by any means, but I do respect those who have cleaner standards than myself, and kids. There is a current thread I started wanting verification of a pile I suspected was bear scat. It would haave been perfect to title it, "Who Knows Their ****?", but I cose tto go with "Who Knows Poop?". I admit, I also did that to give a humorous nature to the post...although it is a very scientific matter

Re: What is this?

Yup, for towing, my 69 had those too. My truck also hit a concrete pole on the same side as yours, now my bumper sits a little funny since the frame is bent haha

Thanks, the question was answered.

While I can see the reasoning behind what you typed, I firmly believe that us as Americans need to have some thicker skin. A kid hears everything by the 4th grade, let alone letting them surf the internet. If a Mod wants to change it let them but I am not going to get into apologetics with you, nor do I feel it's unappropriate (which btw if the board felt was bad they could censor it). Have a good one!

Re: What is this?

I don't find strong language necessary even in the slightest, nor does it normally offend me. I certainly try not to type it. Once said, the words can dissipate, once written, well they're for good.

For the most part, it's about respect for your fellow man or forum members in this case. Special K made a good point and politely done. I hope we can keep this site more on the conservative side of family oriented. I detest the forums that have so much rough language and bashing that the important info becomes hard and time consuming to sift out.

Short7duce, I appreciated your post, I found it very interesting, learned something and hope you truly enjoy this site as I have of recent. BTY, your choice of wording is no big deal to me, but I plan to stay on the conservative side of family values.

Thanks, LockDoc. Between your moderating and the knowledge you bring to the forum, we're very fortunate to have you around.

So
Cool truck, how hard is it hit? I’d suspect the frame is bent, but that is fixable.

Re: What is this?

All this over a word mentioned 23 times in the bible, WOW. A word most of us use on a daily basis. I am pretty surprised by the amount of time and energy spent on a word I used in my title, that was focused on by a few rather than the actual post. I know how long this forums been around because i joined it back when I first got my 72, that does not make the issue you made out of this any less petty or ridiculous. New guy old guy 2 posts or 20k posts, should I not be able to express my opinion in a mature, non attacking way? Hell, I think so.

Frame looks fine, the impact was to the rear of the bed which sent the front end into some dirt and rocks. I'll take some pics tomorrow, unless the higher up's decide that I'm too new to stick around.

How is that a lecture? So because I have few posts my opinion or posts are not worthy of this site? Because this whole experience with this post has really shocked me as to how petty and sensitive some people can be, especially truck people.

Re: What is this?

First thing I posted was the answer to your question, on topic with your title.

I assume you read my post and it appears you did not comprehend it well at all. I never said don't use the word HELL and I said I use that word myself...at times. It is having in the title for ALL to see that I was addressing. I am not offended at all. I am only thinking of those who would be. It's called respect and if you didn't get that we as humans are to respect one another out of all those words in the bible then we are back to your poor comprehension skills.

Skin doesn't get any thicker than mine. But that doesn't keep me from being one to speak out and say my piece or be a don't take any crap type of guy. The problem here is not the word, I can see now. That is just the result of your real problem... your attitude. Like I said, welcome to the site. If you'd like to stay, take a look around and see how we behave here. Even a whore mongering drunk will act respectful in church. This is no church, but it is a large assembly of people of various beliefs and points of view. The trick is to blend. If that's not possible you can find another place where people are just like you... Over!
