Caliper bracket mount template for 55-59 w/12"rotors

Does any vender offer a template for the custom front caliper mount bracket for a 55-59?

I have seen the brackets with bolts only for conversion to small 5 but only complete kits for 6 lugs.

thanks

Have you called them to see if the bracket is different?

I have not called Speedway but I do know the small 5 is 11 inch rotors instead of 12 inch for the 6 lug.

Re: Caliper bracket mount template for 55-59 w/12"rotors

I hailed the vendors and asked if anyone sold the mounting brackets only for a 6 lug 12" rotor disc brakes calipers for 55-59 chevy/gmc. I only found vendors who sold the 5 lug caliper mounting brackets only for 11" rotors.

So as some of you have done, I will create my own brackets for use with 78 K10 rotors and lug studs and 72 c10 calipers and hoses.

I will use either 5/16" or 3/8" --to be determined --- and I will trace my pattern for both sides
for future use.

These probably can be used with 15" wheels if you use a 1" spacer to clear the tie rod end which I doubt would hurt many of us. Dunno yet.

Again, input is appreciated. I wish a happy holiday to all.

For those who like to fabricate. I used the universal bracket from Speedwaymotors - $10 each and 3/8" thick for the bolted bracket. The bracket tracings should be to scale on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper. Take the lines out on cutting. Many pics for reference. I used grade eight bolts for mounting and it rest against the spindle mount so it will not go anywhere. You save about half if you have the means to make them. You fit the 2 pieces with caliper on the bracket/rotor and clamp for proper placement on welding.

I can fax if necessary.

Re: Caliper bracket mount template for 55-59 w/12"rotors

Update, to get full left turn to the stop I had to cut a relief for the king pin taper pin nut on the driver side. Nothing had to be done to the passenger side as I had full right turn to the stop.

I also removed 1/8" from the king ping taper pin threads to aid in clearance. It still has a full nut and I removed it to cut it.

I said I used 72 c10 calipers and hoses. Hoses are short - as I have read on some post on formal kits ---which I remedied in my own way. If anyone knows of a longer hose -- about 15- 18 inches needed -- please inform us. The 4wd hose is a different caliper fitting. I also used the left hose on the right and right on the left.
