Re: 1965 1/2 C10 Pickup

I highly doubt an 80yr old salty dog would just join the forum to try and BS everyone. I'm sure he wanted to meet like minded gear heads with 60-66 trucks. I know I have forgotten things I did 20yrs ago, so it's possible something slipped his mind over the last 50. Honestly I'm leaning towards the engine builder trying to burn him theory rather than "he's a liar". Welcome salty dog, I'm looking forward to seeing you restore your truck.

Re: 1965 1/2 C10 Pickup

Who cares? He's got a nice pickup that almost every board member would love to have a should appreciate, since that's what this forum is partially about. While most posts have been correcting misinformation and so on and so forth, it's a dead issue..only one member owns the damn thing so let i be appreciated. I know I'd like to own it. As Michael Keaton said in the movie "The Other Guys".."Shake you d*cks, this pissing contest is over." Lol

6 pages later and all I know is that somebody is wrong.
Like I said early on in this thread:
Let 80 years old Salty enjoy his mostest rarestestes truck ever built.

Re: 1965 1/2 C10 Pickup

We need to set back and wait for the motor to be rebuilt. Then see the pictures that i asked for in post 11. Then we can see what he has.

Re: 1965 1/2 C10 Pickup

Informed opinions are what keep this forum interesting. New members with interesting trucks are equally important. Take away those and we are left with endless posts on which tire to use with which drop, or angry rants about why aftermarket patch panels won't fit.
Bottom line here is this appears to be an interesting truck with an interesting history. Some historical "facts" may or may not be accurate as stated. I forget things, and I know I'm not alone.
I say we give the OP a chance to substantiate his claims, while pointing out what we know to be unlikely.
Nobody needs to take any offense or give it either.
I can't fathom anyone being so bored with life that they would masquerade as an honest owner just to troll the masses with lies.
That's just not possible ... er, I don't think..

Tech forums are the troll's playground.
Maybe even some of the Car forums.
I just haven't really seen it here. Us older truck guys are generally a nicer group of people.
But yes, Flaming, Baiting, and Trolling is a huge part of the internet.

Re: 1965 1/2 C10 Pickup

60-66--I didn't say chevy did it from the factory, all i said i did it, and it ran just fine with a power-glide. You are the one that said that combo wouldn't work together. That's all i was referring to. Have a nice day people.

Re: 1965 1/2 C10 Pickup

I've been a member for a good while and have never seen a thread like this, so it seems like the perfect time to pitch my new Webinar: How to Gain Credibility, Get People to Listen to You, and Make Friends on the 67-72 Board. For $19.95 you'll learn to master the following topics:

1. WORD CHOICE: Call people stupid and liars. Use those words when describing other members as they will honored to be associated with them.

2. TOPIC CREATION: Never search the forum or check the 60-66 FAQ Index before asking a question. Who cares if what you're asking was a topic yesterday, twice last week, 5 times last month, and 208 times last year?

3. TECHNICAL SUPPORT: When someone can't figure out something or makes a misstatement, make sure to belittle them. This will make you look smart since you are above their questions or providing helpful advice.

4. TECHNICAL SUPPORT, PT 2: When given advice, ignore it and keep posting more calls for help. If you should actually figure out the issue, don't post that it was fixed nor how it was done because we all enjoy a good mystery.

5. TYPING TECHNIQUES: Don't use punctuation, proper grammar, nor spelling, just capital letters.

6. MOD HELP: Don’t bother reading the Forum Guidelines and Rules. The mods are there for a reason and creating extra work for them is appreciated.

7. SMALL TALK: Be a troll. Comment that something “SUCKS!" and then just keep insulting everyone.

8. ADVANCED SMALL TALK: Always point out that your opinion is correct because: A) Your number of posts is higher; or B) You’ve been a member longer.

9. THE BIG PICTURE: Never treat anyone with any respect whatsoever. You'll never meet them face-to-face, so it doesn't matter anyway.

Email cash only ... and don't forget to tell a friend!

Your not going to get any pictures. Salty has gone and will probably never come back and share anything with us again. Can't say I blame him.

Re: 1965 1/2 C10 Pickup

On a lighter note it was just "verified" that my 64 came with an LS6 engine from the factory.
That's funny right there.
I wouldn't either if I were called on those claims. As was said many times it's not like he wasn't given the opportunity to walk back the statements a few times.
That's not anyone's fault on this forum.

I really want you to have a good experience in these forums, but it's posts like this that keep people replying the way they do to you.
Having a 1965 shop manual along with a 66 shop manual doesn't prove anything.
But that's okay, you can go with that. There is nothing wrong with believing what you do. We can all say; 'Great! that is so cool that you have a Factory1965-1/2 vin# 6Z126582 c144 - With a L79 66 Corvette Engine with a Roller Cam.'

Re: 1965 1/2 C10 Pickup

I currently drive a 1999 1/2. When i order parts i order 2000 parts. I was a parts man for a Chevy dealer in the 50's and know a little something about cars.

Too bad you threw away or destroyed the documentation or anything that could really prove it. We can believe your word, but that's the only thing you've given us.
Again, feel good about your Factory 1965-1/2 vin# 6Z126582 c144 - With a factory L79 66 Corvette Engine with a Roller Cam.'

Actually, you did get answers. Lots of them. You just don't want to accept that you have a 1966 truck with a regular 327.

lol, post the VIN for that 1999 1/2 so we can tell you what year it actually is.
