88-98 to 07-13 HD Hood Conversion

Saw some people doing this.... Figured its something that might interest some of the folks here

Apparently to do this you slice the raised part off of a 07-13 silverado HD, and you gaft it onto a 88-98, and with a little body work grinding bondo and a coat of paint, you can get it to look like the pictures above. Anyone here done this to their ride?

I love it! Been wanting to do it for a few years after seeing the red dually.

Some trucks can pull it off and look good, but to be honest the majority of the trucks I see with this hood mod end up looking to me like a Beluga whale.

This one has the best HD-style hood I've seen done on one of these trucks. It was made by cutting a section of the stock hood, raising it and then filling in the gaps with sheetmetal.

Hahaha, I agree, especially that red one with the ss bumper. It just doesn't look right to me.

This truck pictured in your post has a HD hood from the earlier 00-05 hoods, the front end of the nose veers in much closer then the 07-13 trucks. My favorite hood job in the first list of the pictures is the second truck from the top.

That red dually is the first time I've ever seen it and liked it, otherwise its a great way to ruin the clean, smooth lines of the 88-98 style. That red dually looks great though.

No, it doesn't. As I stated, it was built using the stock '88-'98 hood. Notice the '88-'98 creases are still present. Here's a pic of it under construction to prove it.

Ignore the funky grille, but I like this hood using the '05-'07 Silverado hood.

That's the first time I've seen a 05-07 grille on a 88-98 Chevy, it actually doesn't look that bad. The hood looks good too

Oh wow, thanks for correcting me on that, I thought someone took the next gen from the 98 and up and swapped the hood out. Very impressive!

Sorry I misread your previous post -__-

It's all good.

I followed the build of the truck on another site. I've been in love with that hood since he finished it.

I like the HD hoods from 01-02 on the 99-02 half tons. These 88-98s just don't look right with the customized hoods. To each their own though. I can appreciate the work that goes into this modification.
