MCGAUGHYS DISC BRAKE KIT -Alignment Issue

i just took my 70 stepside down to have the front end aligned after installing a Disc conversion kit I bought from GMCPauls. Mechanic said he couldn't complete the job because he couldn't get the Camber correct- he said it calls for .5 degrees and best he could get was 1.9 degrees- Anyone have this issue come up before or heard of it happening? All front end pieces were replaced- tie rod ends, spindles (with the kit) ball joints and upper and lower control arms- It'd drivable but I expect my tires will not last long with front end set up like it is...ideas?

I've never heard of this issue.
Did you do just the standard disc brake spindles or drop spindles?
Drop springs?
Any pics of your suspension?

Just wondering, I assume you're talking + camber and the tires are laid out too far at the top and won't go in any further?

If so, do you have the big flat washers on the upper control arm studs turned around backwards? They have a concave surface that goes toward the inside and maybe they are not seating properly causing the arm to be pushed too far out?

Just thinking here...

I'm no expert but I just rebuilt the front end on my 66 and noticed the washers were concave on one side and assumed that was for clearance, I may be wrong and it not matter which way they go on.

You are talking about + camber?

Re: MCGAUGHYS DISC BRAKE KIT -Alignment Issue

I had mine aligned right after doing my conversion... it was close. But do to me only removing the solid washers on one side, he couldn't reduce the upper control arm spacing enough to get the passenger side camber within spec.
I removed the solid washers from the driver side upper control arm and just used slip-in shims during the conversion, he was able to work with that side and get it within spec.

Problem might just be due to the solid spacers, it was in my case
Good luck man!

Here are a few pics from when I had the truck on the rack,
