What are the reasons not to weld up the cowl area on our trucks? Seems to me a good way to protect the areas under there that have years of abuse. I can't figure a way to get down in there to seal and protect it and I don't have a use for the vent. I am not using it. So tell me why shouldn't I weld it up.

The cowl panel can be welded up. Why not just the removable cowl panel?

Ok. That would serve most of the purpose I suppose. Water running down the windshield could still go in there.

The windshield wiper motor and arms would be the best reason to have some access to that area. PO welded mine and I had to cut it back out to change the wiper motor and arms out. I wonder if you just use a screen there instead to keep the leaves and pine needles out?

That's what I plan to do, they male one for the next gen trucks. I was taking measurements for that last night in fact. I'll make a card board pattern first.

i'm doing the smooth cowl and going to make a rubber seal/gasket that sits underneath to keep as much as i can out. i also sprayed a rust undercoat from eastwood down inside everything. It has about a 24'' long hose with and end that sprays in every direction to coat everything real good. did that to all the areas that you couldn't get epoxy primer on

This sounds like a good idea. Anyone have pics of a solid cowl panel installed?
