Re: Mike's 50

Mike, The rod's on the fenders help with alignment of the fenders (pull them in) as well as keep them a little bit more stable.
That being said, Guy's do leave them out if your going with the Patina look and are not over concerned with the hood to fender line. Hope this helps

Mark.

Re: Mike's 50

Here is the transmission oil cooler set up I plan to run. I plan to run it mounted to the outside of the frame just in front of the middle running board bracket on the right side. hopefully it will work ok. The fittings will be on top and come out just above the frame rail.

I really like this cooler and love the truck! Do you happen to remember the p/n of the cooler? Summit has a handful of them....

Thanks!

That trans cooler is nice..who makes that ? any plans on a gravel guard for it? I know what would happen to me if it was mine and I mounted it there...

Re: Mike's 50

Before drilling mounting holes in frame, you guys think the location of the cooler will be a problem? it is above the running board mount, I think I will be putting a drop down battery in front of it which I think will hang lower than the cooler.
effectiveness not sure of but cant change it up latter if not working properly.

Re: Mike's 50

It's hard to find space for a cooler isn't it?
I think with a fan it will move the air just fine
where you have it.

Re: Mike's 50

Got it mounted. used 5/16-18 rivet nuts in the frame. I still need to finish the cooler lines and wire the fan.
I also got some more dyna mat installed.

Looks really good Mike. I like the look of the powerbraid. It will be interesting to see how the magnetic clips work out for mounting the harness. Good progress!

Re: Mike's 50

Haven't made alot of progress lately, havent had much time to spend on it. the last the whole family was here to celebrate parents 50th anniversary.

Wiring is coming along slowly, not a big deal and really rather easy. I need to shorten the wiring from Transmission to TCM. not many wires. Suppose to be nice this weekend and so far no plans so hope to get truck time.

Re: Mike's 50

I had a chance to see this truck in person and honestly the pictures do not do it justice. Mike was cool enough to let me stop by and bend his ear for a couple hours on his project. This truck will be incredible when it is done and Mike is a great guy. If you get the chance to talk to Mike you will realize that immediately.

It was nice to meet and spend the time talking with you.
Thanks for the compliments on the truck.

Re: Mike's 50

I'm still at it albeit slowly it seems.

I finally decided on battery and used an Odyssey PC925. Its a fully sealed battery, I fought with mounting locations and end here. I dont have the cables run other than thru the floor.

I got some more of the wiring cleaned and shortened up for the transmission computer. Working on routing of the Dakota Digital Box, and working on the fuse panel also. I need to finish up underneath the truck alittle also.

I mounted a couple Hella horns, I didnt paint because the will be hidden behind the latch panel. I have the headlights and park/turn signal lights terminated and just need to run the ground.

Couple of pictures also

Re: Mike's 50

Has anyone else bought this headlight switch from a top seller of AD parts? It has no front park lights while in headlight position, took it apart and the way it os made not possible. Part #53-157.
I could just hook both park and tail light wires to tail light terminal
Thoughts?

Re: Mike's 50

Still working on the wiring. Stupid me cut the positive battery cable about 4 inches to short so need new cable.
Got the Dakota Digital Gauges wired up and working. still need to finish up a little more wiring.
Apparently the Headlight switch operation is normal according to the vendor. Told that originally they shut off front park lights when headlights are turned on. I went ahead and wired both to tail light circuit so I have both front and rear regardless of headlights being on or off.
I need to run power cable to Fuse/Relay center for main power to Engine and Transmission.
Still need some clean up and clamps for wiring but getting there.

Re: Mike's 50

Jim, Thanks.

Solidaxel, I have been thinking about some sort of kill system but wasnt thinking of killing all power.

Got the last of the windows in and wasnt as bad as I thought it would be.
Worked on some more wiring and getting this thing close to fire, maybe next weekend.
