Advance Design recognition??

Is it more commonly known as '47-'54 or '47-'55 Chevy trucks?? I know the '55 first are in there. But I've seen websites that have it both ways...

I'm working on a little something for the AD truck guys and wanna make sure I get this right!

Re: Advance Design recognition??

Hmmm....55.1 doesn't seem very snappy for a design. Maybe 47 to 55 1st edition?

I thought about that but it's kinda long. I wanna have it similar to my task force shirts like my avatar pic.

So ideally I need to figure out if 54 or 55 is more correct

How about "AD '47 - '55"

When they have to ask, they will learn.

This is very true. It's going to have Advance Design Era at the top. So it should be semi self explanatory

Keeping it simple is an advantage.

Re: Advance Design recognition??

Once upon a time you'd say "55 and a half" when discussing the mid year model change. Back then decimal points were reserved for money. 55 1st series is another common moniker.

Once this gets decided I'll be sending my TF shirt back so the model year can be adjusted appropriately.

Hahaha..... Gotta blame GM on this one for making a brand new model truck in the middle of the year! lol

55.2 to 57?

Looking forward to the AD design. How about 47 - 53? I would get that since there were a number of changes on the 54.

Re: Advance Design recognition??

47-55, those that know will understand. Those that don't....well they will have to figure it out. It isn't like this is a Mustang site where 64 1/2 is a big deal....

Re: Advance Design recognition??

A lot of the long time AD truck guys go with second series 47 through first series 55 as both had two body designs in the year model.

It really isn't worth getting nitpicky with though.

Re: Advance Design recognition??

^^^ Yup. 47.1 were left over "Art Deco" trucks from '46 which were really the same truck in ALMOST every way as the pre war '41 and very limited '42 trucks. My "46" actually had a 41 cab as the rear window was held in with a perimeter sheet metal ring. True 46's didn't have that. Someone replaced the cab somewhere along the way, or maybe the entire truck was pieced together(?)

Hope you make those shirts in girly colors. My wife will be needing one for her '54 Panel.

Re: Advance Design recognition??

Just tryin' to yank your chain, Ogre. I like 4 eyed trucks, even though right now the only thing I have that fits that class is my Class A motor home('88 P30).
