Re: My 52 GMC Build

Today I got my inter-cooler in and hooked up.
First pic is looking where the rad should be.
Second pic is the intake hat that I made.
Third pic the 3" hose I'm using. It should work it's rated at 230* and 30 psi. I don't think it looks to bad.

You're getting there! It's looking cool!

Just my unsolicited opinion, but I don't like the flexi hose for the turbo outlet to the intercooler is a good idea. Since you're planning on cranking up the boost, your turbo outlet temperature could end up very close to the 230°C limit of that hose, but you may also get extra heat transfer from the engine bay to the air in the hose. I guess my point is, do you want to take the risk of melting the hose and feeding dirty air into the engine? I think solid plumbing would not only work better, but would be safer and perform better. Just one opinion.

Thanks. I am wondering about that happening. I'm not going to run solid right now there are a lot of bends to get where it has to go, I think it would be all cuplers. I cant weld aluminum. I'll see what temps I get with my inferred gun. I found some flex silicone hose, but really expensive. So I guess this is just for now.

Yeah, when I said solid I meant just straight lengths with couplers. What I saw in my mind looked nice and clean. For what it's worth I've seen and heard that you can buy good quality silicone couplers online significantly cheaper than at your local auto parts store, especially for us Canadians.

Thanks a lot!! That's the way I would really like to go. I'll do some searching and change it out before I really start driving.
