Trans tailshaft length

A friend is interested in the TH350 trans, when I put the 700R4 in it, in my stock unmolested 1972 C10 with 350 engine and 3:73 rear gears if that makes a difference. He asked if the trans had a 6 or 9 inch tail shaft and I have no idea which one it could be. Does anyone know which it would be for my truck or could it be either?

I think you are going to have to just measure it yourself.
Too many varibles of what could have been put in your truck over the years.

Re: Trans tailshaft length

my 72 with the same setup, longbed, TH350, 373 rear gears,etc..., has the 6" tail. when i was searching around for a replacement at local parts yards and swap meets, i only saw the TH350, 6" shafts from the 71-72 trucks. the 9" was common also but the ones i found were from vans mostly

Both my 72 LWB C/10's were born with 350/350THM transmissions, both have 6" tail housings...
