Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

What are you thinking about when it comes to wheels Jason, billets or maybe a cast wheel like Coys or Showwheels? If your looking at billets be leery of a companies turn around time. Avoid Bonspeed as I have heard horror stories of people not getting their wheels for almost a year. Raceline has a pretty long time line as well. I know Intro takes around 6-8 weeks which isn't bad and Billet Specialties takes around 3-4 weeks which is by far the best.

The other companies I haven't dealt with so I don't know what their timeframe is. Good luck on your search, I know how hard it can be oh yeah and if you like my Intros, I know of somebody in Oklahoma that is selling the same wheels in perfect shape with no wait time

Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

Got the ECE drop finished today. I will have to say its a top notch kit, everything just fell together. After all the worrying about the spindles they ended up being the right ones....

A little close up of the new paint. I know one thing, the black is going to be hard to keep clean. It's like a magnet for dust.

Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

Ok, last picture of the night. Here she sets in her home cleaned up and setting a little lower. A review of today, we took the bed back off to relieve a few bed bolt holes in the frame, installed the complete ECE 4/6 drop, fixed a leaking brake fitting, put the Boyd's fuel tank back in, installed new steering wheel, done a front end alignment, and charged the A/C. Now I have to decide on a set of wheels, and some more tinkering on it here at my garage.

They did a super nice job on the paint and bodywork Jason. It really looks great, I'm happy for you to see it done.

Thanks again Scott, glad you talked me out of selling it last year.

Thanks Keith, it already had 71/72 parts under the front so I got lucky!! It's looks totally different lowered. I've always had jacked up 4WD's and Jeeps so this is a little different for me.

Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

We'll I think I already have a problem. When I went to back in the garage last night my headers scraped the floor I turned it around and was able to pull in foreword. So I'm going to have to figure out what BB headers will work and not hang down so low. I kind of thought this in the beginning but I didn't know how low it would be. I've read on here that some guys run Chevelle or Camaro BB headers on their trucks. Any Ideas??

Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

Aww man, bummer on the headers draggin. I'm sure you'll find the right set. I'm looking at some Hedman mid-lengths for my SBC.

The black is sooo killer. Total PITA with the dust but it's worth it when it's clean.

Re: Jason's 70 Big Block SWB Project

Jason, I searched Keith's build for a header part number I remember him posting. Here is what he posted. " Its ok, headers are Hedman Elite 68618. They are Mid length Chevelle headers. I'm running factory 68-71 BBC Motor Mounts"

Hopefully I'll find something that will work. I'm very happy with how the paint turned out. Thanks

Scott, I have POL Tubular mounts, I wonder if the ones Keith used would work with my aftermarket mounts?
