Re: Got one.

Check PlastiKote's website HERE to see if they have your color in their PlastiKote Car Color line of rattle can paints. They have factory GM colors and I've used their GM Bahama Blue Metallic before, I'm going to use it on the firewall of my 79. CarQuest carries it.

Re: Got one.

Latest pictures. Wiring all removed an in box in back. Much cleaner engine compartment without the prior spaghetti. Also a quick note. "Universal" 13 circuit harness from LMC truck (made by American Autowire) is actually designed for hotrods according to the manufacturer. So I had to send that back.

What did you end up using for the wiring?

Not necessary. Just wondering what you did. American Autowire makes an update harness for our trucks. I went with their custom harness to tie into my LQ9 engine harness...

Re: Got one.

Doors and fenders are back on now and prepping body for final paint.
The hood I scored for $20 from a wreck whihc i expected to be bondo central, turned out to be an un dinged, GM original when paint was stripped, which is also being prepped along with the tailgate.

Re: Got one.

First bits of bling / trim (dependent upon your viewpoint) went on this morning! Note the revised gas cap looking at home in its new environment.

Re: Got one.

nearly there. Just have to put dashboard back in, roll bar back in, interior of doors and a radio -then I bring it home and have to build the rest of the interior out.
Q: Where do 3 point seatbelts attach on these things? on the roll bar?

Re: Got one.

I think they originally only came with a lap belt and no 3 pt seat belt. May have to be a custom type of thing if you want it to come over shoulder.\

Or a newer seat with the seat belt built in, like a newer Tahoe/Yukon.

Re: Got one.

Those are front seats from a Tahoe with an integral belt system??

I already have a pair of third rows with integral belts for the rear of the truck (more on installign those later I suspect)

Re: Got one.

Those front seats are from a 2000-2005 Tahoe/Yukon/Burb. They're popular to swap in to gain those integrated belts. I don't think they bolt in or bolt on the stock seat bases. It takes some fab work to get them in. There's several threads here where guys have used them, just have to dig a minute to see how others have mounted them. I know tvblazer78 used them front and rear in his Blazer last time he freshened it up but I don't recall how much detail he posted. Worth a look though.

Re: Got one.

Of course, the drawback is that you just redid your front seats....

But I did see some blackish ones so they may match a bit better than the ones shown above.

Re: Got one.

I think I'll start with the redone originals and lap belts until i get it all together internally. Realistically this is a mall crawler / Soccer Run specialist vehicle so there wont be that much off road tipover danger.

Re: Got one.

Truck looks fantastic!!! Hopefully I'll get to see it around sometime as I'm just down the way from you in SJC.

Just wondering if you are going to go to 73-74 amber turn signals and black headlight buckets? I think it would look really good with that original look.

Re: Got one.

Your truck looks great! I've loved watching it come along. I've got a '73 as well, but I just haven't found the right body shop.
The color turned out great, and the two tone is so sharp. Please keep posting pictures.

Re: Got one.

Out of the Shop now. Really enjoyed driving it again. Stereo installed and a couple of things to deal with before I do the interior. Namely:
1. I bought the wrong dash bezel from eBay - F^%&!!! had to go and get a new one from LMC (incoming)
2. The headlights switch isnt connected - can be rectified when I put in new dash bezel.
3. The Wiper switch didn't work - new one incomuing through ebay and can be done at same time.
4. The old heater control box was seized / stuck to the point of not being moveable with one hand (useless while driving) - new control box ordered from LMC.
So this weekend is dashboard stuff - eventually I need a brand new gauge cluster as gas gauge and a couple of others including shift indicator and temp / oil pressure do not - but that's for the new year due to financial restrictions.

Quick reminder of what I started with to what I have now.
