I would build them 104" long. The fender well to fender well is further, but the body dips down and you wouldn't be able to tuck the steps up close to the body if you ran past that point. I hope that helps and/or makes sense

Re: 1991 Crew Cab Short Bed Build

Hey man thanks! Yes that would totally suck to build a nice solid set only to ram them into my bed every time I get some flex going. I guess I'll just have to play around a little bit to make them perfect.

The joys of working on a Square! PS... your build is helping to inspire a lot of the details I am incorporating into my Crew

Took a ride up to Yarnell for a Show & Cruise to raise money for the 19 Hot Shots Memorial Fund Raiser. Tons of cars, great drive, great cause...great day!

Thanks for the kind words

My buddy ended up keeping the "Furd" for himself. Should end up a really cool/fun project. I started a build in the 'alternate tinkers' section. I haven't really stayed up on it though.

Re: 1991 Crew Cab Short Bed Build

So, I just went through this thread. Again. For like the 15th time. Such a great job on this, I hope to do the same thing someday....

Every time I read this thread, I keep telling myself this is what I want to do. Build a truck from the ground up with what I want on it, regardless of whether it was made by GM or not. For me it would be all about updating a classic style with modern touches: seats, interior, etc. which brings me to my question. I didn't see the mention of where you got the visors from, they don't look stock, would you mind letting me know were they came from?

Thank you sir.

The visors are from a 91 suburban. The suburbans had lit vanity visors on the passenger side, so when redoing/installing the dash harness I used the suburban so the wiring was already there for them.

Turns out its even from the same guy, he does the local swap meet circuits, and I got them at a good deal. Just picked them up today.

I can't tell from the pic, did you build the whole seat mount?
I'm putting these in the front of my suburban, and I was thing about installing them as a bench on top of the existing (stock) mount and slider. Seems like you did something similar but I'm not sure.

Oh, or am I looking at both the front and REAR seat mounts?
Do either of you guys have a link to the seat guy? I would have never guessed minivan seats would work so well.

Your truck is absolutely perfect by the way. I am building one just like it, only half as nice. I'd be scared to use it if it was as nice as yours.

Thank you sir, I appreciate it. With the kids pilled in it I do feel a little uptight sometimes....lol!

Pull up Phoenix craigslist and type 'bucket seats' they'll pop up. The guy is kinda quirky...just so ya know.
