The front of yours sits higher than my truck! Mine is about 32 from the top of mine to the floor on the front..then again, yours will probably sag down some in time..

Re: couldnt wait.....

Do you think you could post a pic of the front springs when you get a chance? I need to see the arch of them so I can see if the look like mine. Now my lift kit is bugging me crazy! I think they(same company you bought yours from) sent me the wrong front springs...

Re: couldnt wait.....

No problem, that makes me feel better that you remeasured..compared to yours mine is sitting aproximatly 4 inches higher in the back, and 3 inches in the front higher
Those springs look like mine, pretty flat..

Re: couldnt wait.....

va tlc, your truck looks perfet IMO.

Let the springs settle before making the final decision to change anything.

Makes me wanna finish up my swb 4x4.

Re: couldnt wait.....

Looks great!!!!!!!! The springs will settle a little as you drive it for a month or so. Go through some ditches at a 45 degree angle from both directions. (Slowly )

Re: couldnt wait.....

lol @ slowly... so your saying DO NOT let the wife drive rite? thanks guys for the info... i hope it doesnt settle much or my front tires may rub in a bind... iv been going over my dang oil leakes now, most of the transfer case bolts were loose as were the oil pan and the rear main is leaking pretty bad. do ya have to pull the motor to replace the rear main? i was think over winter about pulling it anyways to detail the motor and firewall and just clean things up some, but was really hoping to find a stock big block to replace this motor,

Re: couldnt wait.....

Looks good VA TLC! I can’t stand the rear end sitting higher than the front either. After installing my ORD shackle flip and installing a new set of Superlift 6” springs my rear end was poking up in the air too high as well. Mainly, because I had the rear springs reworked years ago to level out my 4” lift with only using a small 1” lift block instead of a 4” block. I ended up removing one spring from each leaf pack to level it out.

Where is the front sway bar? Didn’t ‘72’s come with them? That truck has to lean like the tower of pisa into the curves. Mine did on the initial test drive with the sway bar disconnected after the 6” spring install and while the ORD sway bar disconnects were on order. I know not all 2wd’s had sway bars but I though the 4x4’s did. I think I also saw a picture of your truck with the tires off somewhere…..front drum brakes right? That isn’t the norm for a ’72 either.

Re: couldnt wait.....

Nope, the 4wds didnt have the swaybars...Im gonna use one from a mid 70s 4wd though..And Im gonna jump in and say the chassis is from a 70 (70's had a open knuckle drum brake front axle)(I think thats what he said, chassis is a shortened 70 K20?).I'd be adding discs though, not that hard if its an open knuckle axle.

I'm working on the full resto on a '71 chev 4x4 with a 4 inch lift and 33x12.5's. I just want to say that yours looks awesome and inspires me to work on it! The pic is my computer desktop! I can't wait to get her finished!

Re: couldnt wait.....

thanks reckless , this forum is the reason i wanted another truck so bad and my brother had bought this truck as a 2wd and he decided to sell it so i made a deal id take it if we could find a 4 wd frame and switch it over, hes done a few like this so it wasnt alot of trouble, mike i hear ya about the lift, at first i didnt want a lift, i kinda like em stock, but after it wasnt sittin level after we put new perches on the rear , and then seein my friends i work with blazer all jacked up, plus my tires was so close to rubbin those tires were 32x10.50x16... almost hit the fenders , i just went ahead with the 4 ich, ill post a couple pics of the truck while we was working on it, i belive he may have a couple of when he first got it on a reg camera, he didnt have a digi, thanks guys
