Yea…I spent a night in jail in NM not that I hold a grudge or anything.

You and I pay taxes on thousands of miles of national forest roads to play on that comply with tread lightly regulations……why the heck does someone need a friggen PARK to wheel in other than to give those tourists from Texas a place to go???

Zoomad….your going alone on that trip. I am not going to some “park” 90 miles away in Raton to wheel. I dated a hot little latina chick from Raton in college…she was crazy too. This whole "park" thing was probably her idea to get back to me somehow.
Testy are we? I'm not going gay, just being realistic. The way legislation is going, we might loose a lot of the forest roads to roadless wilderness. If the greenies get thier way it would be sooner than later. It might be a few years down the road, but it's the direction things are headed for. I don't like it much at all, but Off road parks might be the only way it's done by the time Robbie gets his license. Tread lightly and enjoy the trails while we still got them I guess!

WIW is always a tough question….. The reality is everything for sale is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. The ole supply and demand deal.

Around our parts it is a $1000 to $3000 truck and that is if you can find somebody that embraces old iron. Which is muuuuchhh less than you have in the engine, axles and labor alone. Put it on Ebay and sell it to someone in the rust belt for $4000 - $7000. Put it on the Barrett-Jackson auction block and you got yourself a $400,000 truck. You can say that Steve McQueen owned it once or something and probably make $800,000. I got a trailer and the tow truck….you pay the gas and….let’s go to Phoenix!

Re: Frankenstein Is Back To Street Legal....

I`d say no less than $3,000.Back east...$4,500.If you set an old running 350 in there you`d prolly get $2,000 and still have the motor. You`ll never get your money from that motor selling it in the truck.

I dunno, put in a good running 'stock-ish' 350 and I'd bet you'd get damn near the same money for it.
Sell the motor outright to another gear head that can appreciate/understand the build and therefor be willing ching up for it.

Funny how threads get away from the original topic.

I got this...

Re: Frankenstein Is Back To Street Legal....

The engine makes the truck to specialized for me to make an educated guess about what it's worth. The truck itself looks pretty straight and solid. If it were stock I'd say it would go for about $2,500 to $3,000 in Kansas. I base that on the fact that I bought my 69 K20 in stock condition with pretty minor rust for $1,750.

Your truck as modified but without the built engine but rather with a stock 350 would probably bring $3,500 to maybe, with the right buyer $4,000. Not a huge demand for stoutly built trucks around here.

So my uneducated guess would be the truck would bring maybe $6,000 to $7,000 around here as it sits with the suspension mods and stout motor. Definitely would take the right buyer to get that price though.

Good thing your keeping it as it is worth much more in receipts. Like you, I could never get a sale price that would reflect the time and money I've put in my 69 K20.

Re: Frankenstein Is Back To Street Legal....

Barrett-Jackson ends Tomorrow! You guys petter get hopping! Considering the amount of crappy "monster garage" cars they had on the first two nights, your truck is a show queen. I didn't realize how kind the Camera's were on that show because the paint quality that showed up on the Speed telecast on those cars was Hideous. The way they were presented on the original show was that they got painted by pro's, not constrained by the schedule.

Re: Frankenstein Is Back To Street Legal....

That's funny cause FRANKENSTEIN was painted with oil field general purpose exterior paint through a generic welding shop gun. The prep work on the origional body consisted of a three dollar car wash. No dents pulled, rusty rockers and all.....

LOOKS GOOD IN THE PIC THOUGH.......

Re: Frankenstein Is Back To Street Legal....

I just don't see a dualplane intake, flattappet (guessing is's isky grind 270-HL factory replacement), hei, quadjet, stock stroke putting out 500hp. Has it run a dyno or have you just run the numbers?
I like your truck (anything with uprights is cool) I'm just not sure about that motor, IMHO

Re: Frankenstein Is Back To Street Legal....

These were Desktop Dyno numbers run for me by the "REDDOGS" guys. I guess it could be a bit high, but seat of the pants feeling is MUCH stonger than a buddies crate 454HO at 425 HP......!
