What is the best deal you have ever had?
I was just wondering what are the best scores people have made.....whether it be a deal on parts at the junkyard or on a complete truck????
For me....A few months ago on ebay I found a lwb steel floor bed with zero rust and a bedside toolbox and door in very good condition for $75. It was also only a half hour away from me. I think I will use both the bed and toolbox...........John |

I got an almost MINT black bench seat, black dash pad, good fan shroud, and HD clutch fan for only $75 at a junkyard. It was out of a 70 K20 4x4 Burb that's rusted up. Will probably buy the frame to put my pickup body on later. It's complete, except for the fact that someone put a 454 in it, and it has the driveshafts, rear end, transmission(auto) and the front diff and transfer case. Hell, I guess I'll buy the whole thing while I'm at it!

For me the best deal was a New Reman 350 long block. didn't know it when i handed him the $190 plus a spare rim that what i had gotten was a 350 still on the crate, in the orginal plastic rap, and metal strapped to the crate. Underneath - a FULL set of gaskets, Longblock and a 4 bolt main, and an oil pump. Oh, the paper work telling me that it was a FliteLine Motor out of Fort Smith, ARK (AR being home for me) stating that it is bored to .060 pistions and .020 on the rods and mains.
Now if i would've went to the Zone i would've spent close to 1500 for that. a steal for me i think. Amen? sswj out

CST Seats
OK, I'll play! A guy was parting a 68 Chev PU (advertised). When I got there he had two of them, both CSTs w/buckets. His kids were playing house with one of the seat sets out in the mud. I paid his asking price...no haggling...$25 each.
I think that is the only good deal I ever got. I always want the stuff so bad, I usually pay too much for it. |

A union brother of mine gave me a complete '72 front clip: fenders, fender skirts, radiator support, hood, cowl, 1 drivers door, 2 pass doors, glovebox door, instrument panel, door sills, high hump, 1 Chevy truck rollbar, 2 jeep rollbars -- all for a case of Coronas.

I got four big pallets of NOS GM parts at an auction for under 300 bucks. The dealership had been in business since 1912. The newest parts were from the early seventies. I probably got in excess of five thousand parts out of that deal. I wish they would go out of business again. I think it was in March when I picked this stuff up. I still have'nt gone through everything yet. It sure is fun digging through all those boxes. You never know what you might find.

When I was about 12 years old (back around 1972) my nextdoor neighbor's son got a new Yamaha 90 Enduro. He had been riding a Ducati 100 Mountianeer (early 1960's bike). I asked his dad what was he going to do with the Ducati and he said 'Sell It".
I asked him what he wanted for it and he told me $100...BUT he winked and said laughingly if I could get him an Eisenhour Silver Doller within 10 minutes the bike was mine. I think the Fallstaff was kicking in...LOL. Little did he know that my grandfather happened to save those Eisenhour dollars. So I ran back to my Gramps house (right next door), told him the 'deal'...and he gave me one of his Eisenhour dollars. LOL. Our neighbor was bummed...but, the good sport he was said "a deals a deal"...and I had my first motorcycle. That Ducati had more than a dollars worth of gas in the tank when I rode it home. Another cool thing happened today. I was working on my '71 and pulled the metal door panel in preparation to remove the 'guts' out of it....I'm replacing it with a rust-free unit I got earlier from JunkyardJohn. Anyway, down in the bottom of the door I found a silver filigreed woman's ring with roughly a 1/3 carat deep blue Sapphire stone. It has English silver markings on the inside of the band....and the filigree is a distinctly 'victorian' pattern. It happens that Sapphire is both mine, and my wifes, birthstone. At first I thought "Cracker Jack Prize" and almost tossed it. It was really tarnished (black) and covered with years of rusty/grimy inner-door goo...but felt kinda 'heavy' in my hand. So I showed it to the wife and when I dropped it in her hand she said...."oh, wow!"...and off she went to get the jewelry cleaner solution. It looks great now. I'm taking to the Jeweler tomorrow to try and find out more about it. Last edited by SLS; 07-13-2004 at 04:57 AM. |

Best truck deal, 72 Shortbed fleetside Cheyenne, buckets, air, cruise, 350, PS,PB, inspected, $550, turned around and resold for $2200. (Had lots of rust but was running and all original) this was back in early 90s.

I can't list all the deals I have made. My family had a junkyard in rural Pa. and we used to make trades for all kinds of things. While here in Ga. I had a guy give me a Nissan (Datsun) 260Z that wouldn't start. In ten minutes I had it running, and sold it a week later for $800. I also had a guy drive his 79 firebird to my house and offer it to me for $250. It was straight and clean, he just didn't want it. I put it up for sale for $1500 without touching it. Unfortunately a buyer came along and offered my wife $900 for it while I was at work. She took the offer.....
