Anyone successfully re-dye the plastic door panels??

I took all my door panels off, gave them a thorough cleaning, and despite some solid scratches on all 4, they'd probably look perfectly fine (certainly not new) if I could re-dye them the shade of blue they came in. Has anyone successfully accomplished this?

My other thought, which would be significantly more expensive, is to take them down to the local upholstery shop, and have them covered in the same shade of blue vinyl as the dash, then reinstall the chrome trim ('72 custom).

Thanks!
