Latest find: rusty crusty 68 CST

Won this at an online auction and picked it up yesterday. Tried to get a couple pics in the dark but this is how they turned out. I will try to get better ones in the daylight. I don't think it is worth saving, but won't make that decision for a bit yet. Not a FS thread...
Enjoy the poor pics...

Re: Latest find: rusty crusty 68 CST

Leon, they said it was a runner/driver, but when I picked it up it had a flat tire and no battery. Just put it on the trailer and headed out. (3 hours from home) Being it was an auction, there is a title transfer which is why I am not doing anything with it yet.

That's so cool! For some reason the picture gave me a flashback to my childhood. Growing up in Montana we used to go snowmobile at night, or sledding up on the gulch. I think the snow and the way the light was shining at night brought it Back. Anyway hope the trucks a keeper.

That’s a real unique truck. Too bad about the condition. Still pretty neat though. The color combo is pretty cool.

That's a pretty sharp color combo with the silver and red interior. I'd like to see some better pictures!

You will have plenty of time to check it out now that you have it home. I see it has a 327, bucket seats, power steering, power brakes, no spin, & A/C. Pretty loaded for a '68 so that is a plus.... I hope you don't have any problems with the title.

Title shouldn't be a problem as there was one, I just had to transfer it.

Not looking much better in the daylight I am afraid.
Has a TH400 trans. Kind of odd to have these options, but no gauges. Body is pretty rusted...
Ram assist power steering is still there.

Found possibly the original air cleaner and intake in the box along with a pretty straight rear bumper.

Re: Latest find: rusty crusty 68 CST

t is weird about the gauges but I too have a 68 truck 3/4 that has buddies and a/c power steering and brakes plus big block and it had speed warning as well but it just had the three hole cluster.I changed the cluster to a tac vac and was gonna add that speed warning but havent and I added tilt so it is pretty loaded, Any way great find have fun

You need a 68 to fill the space in-between 67 & 69 on your signature.

Re: Latest find: rusty crusty 68 CST

Couple questions. Is there a choke delete even though it’s a non-gauge cluster? And do the a/c bezels look original? Seems strange that they aren’t red. I’m curious if they would have been red on this truck originally.

Re: Latest find: rusty crusty 68 CST

I would speculate that if it were a red body and interior the paint on the a/c vents would be red. As to the choke delete, it’s a 327 could have had the thermostatic choke.

My '68 CST with a 327 and TH400 has a choke delete and a plastic tab that covers the word "CHOKE", but it is a gauge cluster.

I thought steel cranks mostly went away in 67 on standard car and pickup engines. They were used on more powerful optional car engines...

Just my observation. I'm an expert at NOTHING!!!

Sure hope it gets built!!!

Is that the option for a 12 bolt coil spring rear???

I also thought the ram assist power steering was gone after 67??? maybe an early production 68???

No choke delete, I would think it would be like the one leon posted. I think the A/C bezels are original. I had an orange 69 with maroon interior and black bezels and rear view mirror.

The rear end is an eaton it looks like. I have seen the ram assist on other 68 trucks before.
