Tie rod question

Trying to figure out what these are off of.. my truck has disk brakes and I know the calipers are off a 78 but when I went to buy replacement towrods the 78 would not mount to the spindle.. I tried 68 tie rods but the threads were to small.. this truck is a Frankenstein

Re: Tie rod question

67-70 drum brakes had their own tie rod, 71-72 discs got a different tie rod. I don't know if it's possible but you may have 73-87 calipers on 71-72 spindles.

Re: Tie rod question

Some disc brake conversion use the one ton outer tie rods. bigger diameter main right handed threads on outer rod and smaller left handed inner tie rods.

Re: Tie rod question

I would try the 71-72 version.
Same thread as the 73-87 tie Rod, with a different spindle taper.
