What's a fair price for a paint job?

When I bought my '79 I had two different neighbors at my shop that ran body shops...now ones in prison and the other got deported. *sigh* I was expecting to get a cheap paint job from one of them, but I guess not.

I know there's a lot of variables, but lets say I have a clean long bed truck that needs no body work. I want a "cheap" paint job, but I want something better than the $299 Maco special. I can remove most of the stuff on the outside that doesn't get painted, probably take the bed off too. I refuse to do any sanding/priming/spraying myself.

What would you say is a good price to have someone shoot that with a single color, and what's a ridiculous price?

You can set my truck on fire and roll it down a hill,
and I still wouldn't trade it for a Coupe de Ville.
