Re: The GSFMech Build

I forgot the camera the day we sprayed it but here are some shots the morning we brought it home. We pulled the bed off when we painted and the only thing left on the truck was the cab, doors and fenders. Everything else was painted off the truck.

Next I taped it up again and sprayed the floor, firewall, the back of the cab and inside the doors with lizard skin. I used the sound control and the ceramic insulation. I’m real happy how it came out and hope it works good

Here it is with my wheels back on it and polished. And some more with the glass installed. I went out to my Dad’s place and polished the S.S. trim around the windows. He has a buffing rig.

A few more shots and the inside of the bed and dash. I have the wiring in it now and am in the process of restoring the AC/ Heater box to install. I'm slowly getting it back together.

Re: The GSFMech Build

Thanks guys. Yes that's the factory medium blue. It looks different without the white. There are so many blue and white ones around I decided not to put the white on it. Besides if I change my mind it will be easy to add it later without completly tearing it apart.

Re: The GSFMech Build

I don't know yet but it sure looks great. I will be able to tell you after I get it up and running again. So far from what I see I really like it. You can really get it up in the doors and hard to reach places that would be hard to get dynamat into.

Re: The GSFMech Build

beautiful truck!!

as far as the lizard skin, I have heard from multiple pro's on a streetrodding site i visit, that lizardskin is the way to way to go. do exactly as mike did, use the sound deadener, and insulation.

Re: The GSFMech Build

Time for another update.

The first thing I did when I got home this time was finish restoring the AC unit and install it. I tore the thing apart, repainted it and installed a new diverter box and changed the big flap in the back of the outside box. I oiled all the cables and all new o-rings I used a new gasket set when I put it back together. When I painted it I bought about 5 different shades of gray and tested them until I got one that matched the original shade as close as I could find. I also refinished the flap in the cowl.

Re: The GSFMech Build

Before I reinstalled the engine I pulled the intake, blasted and cleared it with High temp clear. I installed a set of 3/8" pushrods/ guide plates that I had and repainted the engine. I also cleaned and repainted the trans. I like them painted black. Anyway I then reinstalled it. I blasted/ stripped/ repainted everything as needed on the way back together. This is very time consuming. It sure looks good to see the stance back where it should be

Next I started reassembling the engine compartment. I put new oil and filter, plugs, serviced the transmission with a new filter etc., and installed the radiator. I stripped and painted the driveshaft and installed it. I got a new battery, installed the exhaust and then fired it up. Man it sure sounded good to hear it run again
