F shim thickness and size

Ok, I lost my F shims and I don't want to pay the price being asked online. Can someone please tell me the gauge thickness of these shims? Also, a picture of the shim with a ruler next to it would also be appreciated. Thanks

Can you provide a picture? The only F shims I am aware of are spelled differently.
Stupid F#$&@* shim!

Yup, between the back of the inner panel and the angled cab stiffener. Where the large bolt with the big a$$ washer is....

Re: F shim thickness and size

Thanks 72C20 that is the information I was looking for. Now I just need to make a print and make them. At this point of the project I have more time than I do money to finish it.

Re: F shim thickness and size

Just in case someone else wants to make thier own.

I plan on making four of them tomorrow. Would be nice if I had a laser table but I'll be making them old school.

Um, Ok still never seen them. Which is odd given the amount of trucks I've had and also parted out. I've seen slotted round shims in that location, or no shims at all

PART # 19892939 67-72 Inner Fender To Cab Frame Bolt F Shims 18.00PR
We carry the correct inner fender bolt with captured convex washers also that hold these in place.

Is this a shim that was ALWAYS installed? I have taken apart a 1969 and a 1971 (1 owner, my Father in law) and niether of them had these shims installed.

Only if needed to correct any gap there might be between the inner panel and mounting surface. I have seen them with and without.....

Re: F shim thickness and size

Riddle me this. After reinstalling my inner fenders the drivers side fender sticks out farther than the door at the lower body line. Gaps are good. There weren't any F shims originally on this truck. Would tightening the nut and large washer push out on the lower part of the fender if there was a gap behind? Thinking it might? Guess I'll loosen it and see what happens. So the F shims can be installed from underneath the inner fender?
Thanks

I imagine they were made in the "F" shape so they could be inserted without difficulty on the assembly line if they were needed.
Loosen the bolt and see if that changes the fender issue...
keep us informed, I'll be hanging sheetmetal on my '67 soon
