i can understand your feelings on the paint stick. i had ordered it from jegs cause i ordered all my brakelines, hoses and pro-valve from them. they had the best prices on what i wanted/needed. ordered thurs night and it came sat around noon. very pleased with the quality of it, there i will say it again.

so the loom kit is worth giving up the $100 rebate you think? I wonder what NAPA has...

Re: "The way it is" 67'swb

From personal experience, the Painless PowerBraid kit and wire covers are far superior to any thing else on the market. I have it on two of my projects, and it is phenominal... the covering is very simular to what I use as an Army Aviation Electrician and Avionics Tech.. very hi temp and as a side note, very pretty, simular to woven cloth. Easy to install, and open up for troubleshooting down the road or adding circuits later...

just my .02

yes, i do amazing quality on the 4" piece i had gotten. i believe this so much i sent my rebate back today asking for the loom! from previous experience with buying all weather zip ties, shrink wrap and other clean up items for the whole truck i would definately have over a $100 in it!

Re: "The way it is" 67'swb

ok, have gotten the blower box area fixed so the cab is now %100 done outside of final sanding old paint clean up for paint! damn long time coming!

been saving some money and have purchased a few items. i have gotten all of my brake lines(25'coil silver powder coated/all fittings and a sweet set of ss braided front and rear brake hoses from jegs), prop vavle, wiring harness, dropped off yokes at machine shop to have driveshaft made. also got all my seam sealers that phipp13 had suggest from evercoat, maxim series. i will post how they work once i have them on. last but not least bought some of thee new bed armour by duplicolor for the bottom of the cab. was going to use raptor from tp tools but could not pass up the price. advance auto had it for 79 and a 25 rebate from duplicolor so not a bad price for a gallon of it.

Re: "The way it is" 67'swb

who would like to buy a truck ptoject?? damn this think is killing me! rust just keeps popping up and am running out of old cab so sometime here it will all be new. i was cleaning more paint off on the inside roof around the windshield and notice a pinhole appearing? with further investigation with a pick hammer this is what i ended up with!

now onto fixing it, i guess i will have to look more intense to see what all need replaced. i might look into one of the inside pieces like phipp13 used in his build and make the outside windsheild piece simple 90*. getting a little frustrated but hanging in there.

Re: "The way it is" 67'swb

couple cool things happened this weekend. on friday i called the shop that i had bought all of my other patch panels from and he said that they did not have the front inner roof section and would have to order it. that meant $20 shipping so i had to pay it to get it shipped, that was 10 am friday. my phone rings at 2 pm and the owner says you will never believe this!! a guy who bought all the parts to rebuild his cab 6 months ago had brought back some of the pieces and one of the ones was the roof section! how cool get it the same day and saved the $20 shipping. sweet!!
also got a new family member this weekend. my sister inlaws boyfriend had 2dogs and the one was not working out with their yard size and the other dog. i think the bottom line was pecking order problems between the 2 dogs. we agreed to give him a chance and a new home. why not take a dog when you have cats, horses and chickens. it only seems fitting i guess, so i now have a buddy to hang out with me in the garage while everyone is off playing horses. it has taken me two days to see he has a heart of gold!

Re: "The way it is" 67'swb

was able to the header cut out and see what all was going on in there. to my surprise it is not nearly as bad as i was afraid it would be!! the only major rust is right at the two back to back 90*s. in the one picture you can see were it looks wet and that is were the worst of both sides were. i had sad blasted a couple of spots and got covered with a pound when it let loose! that stuff gets every were and here i thought i had cleaned up for the last time

Re: "The way it is" 67'swb

got my driveshaft today from the machine shop, they did a great job! the bill was $200 for 2 new yokes, 56" of tubing, 2 new u-joints and labor which i thought was very resonable!
i also got my inner roof cleaned and ready to weld up tomorrow. i had used this rustoleam rust converter. is this new? i have never seen it before and figured i would give it a shot, seems to have worked good but time will tell.

nice dog, nice work...

I have a few pinholes near the sun visor mount too.. My cab was blasted and that's all that appeared, i'll have you look at it and see if it needs replaced like yours or just focus on the pinhole area...

I had found mine pinholes then used a pick hammer and it literally was like tapping on the wall trying to find a stud. I was really bummed about it but am very glad I have replaced it cause I know it is right and it wont haunt me later.

Yeah and it seems to work well. I had ground it off to weld and it took some work to get it off unlike paint.

thanks, doug I am trying to match your attention to detail! the dog is a keeper! he is so awesome, he has been here one week and it seems like he has been here his 2years of life. he absolutely loves the kids!

fixed the inner middle support since i was in there. cut out the old and welded in new pieces. also got my header pannel in and tack welded, fits great and was alot easier to place and take out to trim than I thought it would be! if I was not waiting to see superflies truck on barrett jackson i would be down in the garage welding but really wanted to get a better look at!

I'm taking some days off this week, my brother's will be in town until Sunday the 4th... Let me know if you need any help on the cab and we can come over. They don't know anything about trucks but muscle is muscle when you need to move stuff around!

Re: "The way it is" 67'swb

ok, i have to work all week and there is going to be a lot of people off. i am planning on trying to get it done so i can paint it the week after the 4th. but with the people off i am probably going to be work a lot of ot. they are getting rid of 12,000 corp wide and 8 people out of my group of 19 so i think ot will be a new way of life for me. money is nice but what good is it if you are never able to enjoy the rewards of it.
