Which way would you go?

I've installed the wheel/tire combination I want for my truck. These are 15"X8" 6 lug X 5.5 truck Rally wheels with 255/70/R15 BF Goodrich Radial TAs.

Now I need to make a decision on trim rings. Looking for the opinions on what I should do and why.

Should I leave it alone and not run a trim ring?

If I did go with trim rings, which size? 2" or 3"?

I'm already wishing I had not put the white letters out and will probably change that soon. Please keep the ribbing to a minimum for the Martha Stewart ruler.

Thanks!
Chuck

Sorry I guess whole truck pictures would help. Here you go!
One is with the old wheel/tire combo which I hated and one with the new wheel/tire combo, but before I added the correct center caps.

Note: I replaced the springs & shocks over the winter which is what raised the ride height. I expect it will settle down a few inches.

Thanks!

Re: Which way would you go?

Beautiful truck. Since you have the chrome trim I would say go with the beauty rings, but I like the rally both ways.

Re: Which way would you go?

personally I like the 3" on the trucks but bottom line is it is your truck so do it the way you like it. You get to look at it every day so make it what you like best

Re: Which way would you go?

I grew up in the 80s and 90s so I like having white letters out, and I run without trim rings because I can't bear to scratch up the rim, even if you can't see it and it does no actual harm.

But: for a nice, subtle stock looking truck like yours I would do 2" with black tire. Just my opinion.

Re: Which way would you go?

I went with 2.5 inch rounded from Coker tire. They are about as close to original I could find.

Re: Which way would you go?

Here are my 3" trim rings on what must be 7" rims. Hence they look too deep. They may look fine on your rims if they are 8".

Wow, those completely cover up the square holes in the wheels! My rims are 8" inches. Took a long time to find them in 6 lug. Bought 2 other sets in my quest before finding the exact look I wanted. I'm leaning towards the 2 1/2" trim rings from Coker tire. Thanks for the photo! Are those square edge or rounded edge trim rings?

3" rings on 15x8 Rallys with white letters out. I personally love this look, like back in the day.

Personal opinion here, Rallies need trim rings or they look like someone stole your trim rings.

That’s the way I’m going to go. Really like the way it looks!
Coker is sold out, so I’ll need to find them somewhere else.

Re: Which way would you go?

Just FYI, I ordered two others sets from other vendors claiming to be rounded trim rings, only to return them because they were not.

When I found the Coker version they were on back order so I had to wait for them to arrive and I am glad I did.

Here’s mine. I think they’re 3” rings. I need to replace them and repaint the wheels, but I’m keeping mine in this configuration.

Brokoli Wad,

Where did you get those rims? They look like car rims which I thought only came in 5 on 4.75 and mostly 14"? I prefer those over the 73 up truck rims.

Re: Which way would you go?

My vote is the old school look. 3" trim rings with the letters out. But I am planning on running Craiger SS on mine.

Came with the truck. They probably are car rims that were installed with the “disc conversion” PO did.

It was an artistic junkyard swap.

flip the tires so no white letters show, and add the beauty rings

Thumbs up Re: Which way would you go?

This was back in 1986/87 time frame. My truck has seen 2 other sets of wheels and tires since then.
15" x8" all 4 wheels. Trim rings are a must if you run the Ralley wheels. They just don't look right without them. Sorry about the pictures they are pictures of old 35mm camera pictures.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
