Betty

I am in the process of rebuilding a 67 C20 into a K20. Will be posting pictures soon. Got all the glass out tonight, dash pad is off, started breaking down the steering column. Pulled the fan and the alternator. She's moving forward

Re: Betty

This is Betty before I started disassembly. I picked the name due to my job in aviation and b!tc#ing Betty is the voice on the aircraft that warns you of mishaps. I didn't realize that so many people chose the same name.

Re: Betty

Dissy continues. Took off the fan and alternator, started working on the heater and got distracted. Ended up taking apart the dash and the glass, did a little grinding on the cab.

Re: Betty

Finished the cab dissy today. Only thing left is the high hump and a lot of rust busting, and of course, new parts.

Re: Betty

Thanks for the encouragement. I can't post the video but my son was helping me take the tailgate off yesterday and it was "amazin!" and "really super awesome".
Quick question: I picked up a NP261 transfer case from a guy at work and I am wondering if any advice can be offered on how it my work with the SM465. I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance

Re: Betty

Disassembly continues. Got the bed sides and front panel off, cab is off the frame, laying on the bed floor so I could inspect all the cancer on the floor boards and cab mounts. Finding some parts here and there collecting for the final build.

Re: Betty

After a long break I continue disassembly. Built myself a little cab stand on wheels with some scrap lumber I had laying around. Got the engine out, which ended up being more of an adventure than I bargained for, but it's out. PO decided the cure for rusted out bed bolts was to seam weld the bed to the frame mounts. Still working that. Progress is slow but continues.

Good Grief! You have my sympathies on this... Sometimes you just have to scratch your head and wonder what they could possibly have been thinking... just wow.

Re: Betty

So life has gotten a bit busy so I haven't been on in a while. I have the bed floor off, picked up some axles off my neighbor with matched 3.73 gears, half ton axle shafts though, so I'll be swapping those out for the 8 lug 3/4 ton axles and hubs. Decided to put in a 350 to replace the 283 to help move the truck. Scrounging parts, found a married SM465/NP205 combo that I should be picking up in a couple of weeks. Cut the flange out of the frame and currently welding up the patches in the front. Pictures are coming.
Also picked up a spare roof thanks to a buddy, saving $$$ and stock piling parts to rebuild the cab and bed sides. My garage looks like the truck exploded I have so much stored but at least the wife is okay with it! Thanks for the encouragement fellas!

Re: Betty

After a long pause, I managed to finally get the right side of the frame mod done. Need to finish the left side and then strip the axles off.
