Affordable Lowering Leaf Springs for C10

I recently installed lowering shackles on my '76 C10. The 2-inch drop produced is way too little. There's still 3-1/2 inches between the tire and the fender lip. I'm running 275/60-15's on all four corners. Another 3 inches would be good.

I considered raising the front brackets 2 inches, but that would only give me another 1 inch of total drop, and installing a flip kit and notching my frame rails or removing a leaf, but after reading about suspension dynamics and leaf springs, decided lowering leaf springs is a better way to go.

Where can I get AFFORDABLE lowering leaf springs for my truck???

I've scouring the web for an affordable set of lowering leaf springs for my 76 C10 stepside. I found lots of sets for S10/S15, Jeeps and lots of Fords. The S10 springs are as low as $125-150. The only ones I've found for the C10 are these at summit racing for $426.95 (too high!):

www.performanceonline.com sells drop leaf springs.

But if you want affordable,... I would just do the flip kit.

Thanks, but I do not want to do a flip kit. No time or interest in doing c-notches or in loss of load capacity and (probably) handling.

I get that C10 springs being longer than S10, would cost more, but 3-4 times as much??? Come on! Isn't there someplace that sells them for a fair price?

Why loss of load capacity?
Why a c-notch?

I've done at least 3 flip kits on 73-87 trucks with no c-notch.
I think a flat drop leaf spring sucks with no arch to it.

Let us know how it works out for you,...

Yeah a friend of mine with a REAL low 56 Ford suggested that (he didn't lower his that way, tho, LOL), and I considered it. Then, I read up on how leaf springs work, and they stressed how the set of leaves are designed/built to work together, and removing leaves changes the dynamics, usually in a bad way.

Anyway, my C10 only has 3 long leaves, plus the short "base" leaf (have not actually seen that one).

From what I've read, a properly designed set of lowering leaf springs should perform well. Anybody here actually had a set on a 73-88 C10?

One the flip/c-notch: Everybody sez if I put on the flip kit, I need to notch my frame rails. Also, heard that flip kits increase axle wrap.
