C20 Stepside spare tire mount - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I put the mount on today I downloaded the instructions and put it where they said . My problem is I have to put the tire on backwards if I try to mount it with the face out it hits the top rail and the rear fender . I’m guessing that the original rim would have less backspacing and be narrower? Just seems odd to me I double checked and the mount is for a 3/4 ton truck . The space between the tire and the fender well looks big too. Can’t really move it back any as the bracket would be touching the fender behind the tire

Is that an original spare tire mount, or some kind of aftermarket?

Appears I’m missing a bracket that goes inside under the truck . Looks like a piece of angle iron that bolts to the rail inside the bed . I’ll have to make one up forgive the crappy graphics

You're truck looks great. This truck has a similar gap between the spare and fender.

Might be normal for all I know . If you look close the rear bracket is about 1/4-1/2 inch away from the fender .
