DIY steel glovebox

First time bending metal. Not great, not terrible. Took a lot longer than I would have guessed.
I'll put dimensions into a Fusion360 drawing once I'm done struggling with that skillset

Basic fabric store felt seems to be pretty tough stuff, particularly compared to the craft store options I had

I had to google what is Fusion360. That ain't the cardboard aided design I'm so accustomed to.

It's not bad. I used the same origami shape as the cardboard and it only has to flex a little to squeeze through that hole

That's clean looking. And this is how we keep our trucks on the road longer than intended. Why did GM use cardboard in the first place? And....how much would you charge once you get the dimensions correct?

I used to use AutoCad quite a bit but always used ProE for 3d design (including sheetmetal). Sometimes I miss having access to all the cool things I used at work!

So I did the same thing with my old ford, I've been happy with it and am also going to do it with my GMC.

I figured most other people would laugh; my metal skillz are terrible.
Also to note, I built the metal Ford box intentionally just a little smaller so it'd be easier to fit. It fit; but there are gaps. Not a problem with me but it could drive most people nuts.

My CAD experience has been entirely with 3d printing up 'til now. Didn't have to relearn the interface, and the flat drawing ain't bad, but the folding tools have sanity checks I'm only starting to grasp

There's cardboard all over the cab, some particle board in there too. I'd guess it was cheap sound deadener, but I can only imagine how that stuff ages in humid climates

I honestly hadn't thought about selling these, but I could probably fab a few more. I suppose it's also plausible to drop ship a flat kit through sendcutsend or similar. IDK.
