switching 6 lug drum to 4 3/4 5 lug disc questiond

I'm working on a 1969 Swb and I'm wanting to switch the 6 lug drum brakes on the front to 4 3/4 5 lug disc. I would prefer to go to the junkyard and pull parts from donor vehicles and rebuild the front end myself. I'm doing a 4 1/2 inch drop using 2.5 in drop spindles and a 2 inch drop coil in the front and 6 inch drop in the back. Has anyone done this swap before. I'm also wanting to keep my drum brake A arms because they have already been painted by the previous owner of the short bed frame I bought. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

Parts needed:
81-87 Light Duty drop spindles. (for 1" rotors)
81-87 Light Duty calipers

91-92 Camaro 1LE (special option) rotors (5x4.75 bolt circle)

You will have to use 73-87 ball joints, and outer tie rods.
I would get ALL the steering off of a 73-87 truck.

The ball joints and tie rods were confusing me and which steering linkage to use

Changing out the rearend to 5 lug but not sure which rearend I have yet? I paid for my frame and its still sitting where I bought it from, I ran out of room here till I get my shortbed I parted out completely and moved out of the driveway. I want to put 5 lug disc on the back also.

Re: switching 6 lug drum to 4 3/4 5 lug disc questiond

Truthfully the McGaughy's or CPP big brake kit is the easiest way to get a 5x4.75 pattern.
(more money)
You should be able to use your '69 steering box.

Seems like alot of work to get a specific 5x4.75 bolt pattern wheel.
(plus the center hub of your 6-lug rear axle is HUGE compared to a 5x5 truck rearend or a car pattern 5x4.75 rearend)

Sometimes people end up spending more money on the suspension, to save a few bucks on wheels.

Personally,... I would just add 63-70 drop spindles to your truck and use stock 71-87 HD 5x5 rotors and calipers.
You will need conversion brake hoses.
ECE sells those.

Everyone has there reason for the wheels they choose.
I just like to know all the options.
You won't go to a junkyard and find bolt on 5x4.75 conversion parts.

I agree with you about it seems like a lot of work after I got to thinking about it after just reading everything you provided. Maybe I'll just stick with 81-87 suspension and do it that way. Thanks for the help Keith, you're always a great help.
