Before and current - Progress made on the 1960 apache

This weekend I had to get the truck back together and rolling so I could get my car out of the garage to take to a show.

Got it all together, drop 2 1/2" spindles, all new ball joints and a arm shafts but didn't put shocks on yet - and the thing dropped to the ground and rested on the tires on the wheel wells. The 2 1/2" spindles shouldn't have dropped it that much!?

Turned out that the torsion bars were swapped side to side (or they are twisted evenly the opposite way), and the "bump" stops were the shocks being fully compressed!

Anyways, here is how it sits now. Looks pretty good. I am concerned about the adjusters hanging down so low...

Does anyone know if the torsion bars are left and right? If the are not and are supposed to be the same (and straight at the front and back), maybe I just get some others and put them in and the adjusters wont be so low?

4" drop springs.

However, the first picture the truck has a mid-80s caprice rear diff (5-lug).

The after picture is a 66 c10 12-bolt (6-lug).

It took quite a bit to get that in as the saddles for the trailing arms are wider, the shocks bolt at the rear of the trailing arms, to the frame (among other issues).

It looks like you're using 73+ motor mounts.
Are they welded to the frame?

Re: Before and current - Progress made on the 1960 apache

No more side pipes!

But it appears the hangers were simply drilled through the floor and steps on the bed! So the muffler shop didn't want to remove them, said that is on me. No worries.

However, when I was younger, there was (and for me still is) integrity to do a job right. I picked up the truck and the collectors were leaking bad. I mentioned something, they put it on the lift. They said it wasn't their responsibility to replace the collector gaskets. In fact, they just whacked them off about 3" back and welded the new exhaust to the old collector pipes. Didn't even tighten the bolts!

So I went and purchased NEW copper ones and they put them on with new bolts. no extra charge by the way.

When getting a complete exhaust, the guys I used to take my stuff to would always make new collectors and pipes complete.

Maybe its just me...
