Wiring Harness

Who are you guys using for wiring harnesses?
Right now I'm looking at these two companies.
Has anyone had experience with them?
My engine will have its own harness so I'm not sure how many circuits I will need for the rest of the truck. I would rather have more and nmot need them than the other way around.

I've heard good things about Rebel Wire. They also make a kit that will put the fuse panel behind my seat.

hi Kim I bought a ezwire harness not fully fitted yet but pleased with quality for the money. Have heard good things about the rebel kits but my local rodshop in the uk now sells the ez instead, probably as were all cheapskates here in the uk. Hope the new engine is working out looking forward to seeing a update on your build thread I really wanted a big block too but some things are not meant to be for time being at least. George

I used a American Autowire Highway 22. Very nice kit. They also offer add on acceseries for an afortable cost.

Ive used both of these, both great kits with good instructions.

I used the EZ Wiring harness, 21 circuit. strait from EZ in an ebay auction, and it was less than $200 shipped. great quality, vague simple instructions but I emailed them years later and they were quick to help. (and they are still around so that was a great sign!) wires labeled every foot or so, great simple kit. Factory GM Steering column turn signal/ignition wiring.
they also have a list of things to check out for while installing...

I recommend.

Just thought I would post what I ended up getting.

now that clean area under your dash will fill up

make lots of notes when you do something not on the instruction.
drawings of relays with wire numbers and color help when you get down the road.
also any switches you add make a note.
i've had to refer back to my drawings a couple of times, save time and your sanity.

when i did the 11 power tour i took just a handful of tools,
plus my multimeter and all my electrical dwgs just in case
under my dash is pretty clean, but in the console where all the relays went is a cluster f**k

I'm going to try and get it behind the seat. If that doesn't work then it will be in the console.

I know you already bought yours, put i am using the Painless wiring 21 circuit kit. Great quality and I knew VERY LITTLE about wiring when I installed it years back and cam out great. Had good instructions and all the connectors and terminals and wire ties and clamps.

Every wire is labeled along the wire and I'm ready for all future creature comforts for a/c to power windows/locks to cruise when i get them. Had enough length wire to run and hide every where

Good luck with yours. Looking forward to how it comes out. I'm looking for a new one for my dads 71 Chevy p/u and seeing what others been using/like.

I looked at Painless also but found them to be a bit pricey.
I found this one for $398.00 and it has everything I need plus some.
The wires are all printed with the circuits and it has extra conectors. I won't know how good the instructions are until I start on it though.

I bought a painless kit shortly after I bought my truck. Hopefully I will be installing it soon. I bought it from Yogis and they were having a sale on it plus Painless was offering a $100 rebate at the time. If I remember right I ended up paying a little over $200 for it.

Yes the price is the down side to the kit, but at the time I bought mine, which was several years ago, I didn't have as many options as we do now. I am def happy with my kit and would highly rec it.

But like you, I am also looking for a more inexpensive harness from our current vendors for my dad's truck

also - i am useing a AAW kit 21 circuit - to me everything is layed out v v well and info is in COLOR !!!!!!!!!!

I went the simple route and used a 1978 Chevy pickup harness that was in one of my parts bins. Tons of circuits, everything was the right length and easy to install. I am a big recycler of parts and hate spending money to make myself more work..

been using them for years the 73-87 chevy trucks. nice thing is doesn't matter if it's 1/2,3/4 ton or bigger since wiring is wiring.
