And this guy has a factory 6 cyl?! tach but he wants a payment on his mortgage for it. $480. Too rich for my blood but man I wish I had an original 6cyl tach. First one I have ever seen. http://www.ebay.com/itm/252941138108...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I wonder what's different between '60-'63 and '64-'66?

The older one takes some kind of converter to be used.

Re: Cheap factory Tach on E B A Y

That's it? They otherwise bolt into both instrument clusters the same?

Re: Cheap factory Tach on E B A Y

Yes, the 60 through 66 factory tachs all bolt into the instrument clusters the same way. And the face plates look the same too.

As LostMy65 said, the early ones use an external transmitter box that houses all of the control electronics ... the part in the dash is just the meter movement. I believe the change to the newer style (with the control electronics built into the tach assembly) occurred in 63 so the tach listed on eBay would be correct for 63-66. And it would also fit a 60-62 instrument cluster.

Re: Cheap factory Tach on E B A Y

I have several of these tachs , usually its just some dirt that worked its way into where the needle pivots. A good cleaning and I bet its good to go . Thats a $350.00 tach if the guy knew how to fix it.
