Barn door lock "clip"

So its gone now!!

Can somebody tell me where I can find one of the tiny little clips that retains the "lever" to the lock itself inside the rear barn door?
What I'm calling the "lever" is the part that engages the locking mechanism in the barn door.

The little clip pops off when the door is shut, then the lever falls into the bottom of the door. Clip has vanished in the door, and now I can't lock the rear barn doors.

Thanks,
Jeremy.

I wish I had a pic of it to post.

Re: Barn door lock "clip"

Short answer, no.
This is a salvage part...

My experience with these blasted clips, is that they are not standard sized.
Every new clip I found, was either too big or too small.

I ended up finding them at a swap meet from a guy that salvaged door parts for trucks.

For clarification, I am talking about this clip.
Maybe I misunderstood your question.

Not sure.... The clip I noted holds the lock pawl on to the door lock cylinder. We'll have to wait for more clarification.....

Vectorit,

I haven't seen anything like that in my door... maybe thats the problem?
I don't know where that would go though.

Re: Barn door lock "clip"

Best way to retrieve clips from inside the doors, is to get a magnet on a string and drag the inside of the door. Just gotta find a magnet that isn't too strong, but strong enough to pick up little parts.

My clip is from the actuating rods in the tailgate, and the door latch in the 3rd door.

I am going to check tomorrow and see if I can get some of them.

If you can find your clip again I would try gently squeezing it together with some pliers to make it fit tighter on the lock cylinder shaft. Take it easy or you may beak it, it won't take much..

My clip is from the actuating rods in the tailgate, and the door latch in the 3rd door.

The clip you pictured is also used on the actuating rods in the barn door. (The side that has the handle and lock in it)
