1969 Camaro SS

I bought this car back last summer and since then I have just been buying parts and driving it. It was originally a 396/TH400 car, but now it has a Jasper reman 350. The guy I got it from let the big block get away from him sometime in the early 90's I am looking for a date coded '69 396 block that isn't stupid expensive, but I have a '70 454 that I may end putting in there. The car was originally Dover white and black so I plan on going back with color combo. I took the original 15 X 7's Rallys off and put them in storage and put on a set of 15 X 8 Corvette Rallys and a set of the new Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T's. It really heps the stance of the car and looks much tougher IMO. Here's a few updated pics.

Re: 1969 Camaro SS

That's a nice solid looking car. Will there be any metalwork, or was that all done?

Thanks! Its going to need a little work the lower quarters in the rear, and the trunkpan has a few small holes in it, but the rockers, roof, cowl and floors are rock solid. The car was painted sometime late 80's with clearcoat paint, and it beginning to peel some on the roof. It also has some rust under the spoiler on the trunklid, but I have a very, very nice rust free GM trunklid that I've been saving for years. I bought it for a '69 Firebird I had over 10 years ago, but I never put it on the car. It came off a Z28 that was hit really hard in the front many years ago and the guy saved all the good stuff off the car. It already has the spoiler holes, so that's good.

Nice ride here is a great 1st generation camaro forum maybe you are there already? Btw I live in Alabama too!

I have been trying restore my 67 plain jane for about 20 years almost, my house is full of discontinued nos parts. Something always gets in the way of finishing it seems.

I don't have any on my computer, but I'll get some. It has the ol' diamond tuck black velour interior treatment. In fact, 1986 recently called and said it wanted it's look back!

I'm not a member of a Camaro forum yet. I will probably join up to that one if you say its a good one. I have been looking for a good Camaro forum that is more like this one. I don't want any part of a smack talking forum full kids in pissing contests, and I've seen a few of them like that! Thanks for the tip!

Re: 1969 Camaro SS

That's a beauty. I'd just put that 454 in there and give it the correct look, then you have all the time in the world to find your 396 block.

I'm almost ashamed to show these pics, but hey, I guess seeing it ugly with make everyone appreciate it more when its pretty. This car sat for quite awhile, and I have touched under the hood besides changing the oil and putting a new carb on it.

Pretty much the same with interior, It has the previously mentioned diamond tuck black velour upholstery, but is in decent shape. Someone at some point has put an perfect A/C dash in it, and then drilled holes for old school tweeters in each end and a newer streeing wheel. Somone also took out the console and put a raggedy @#$ ^&%$ $%#$^ ratchet shifter it in, but it does still have the console mounts.

No one has really touched this car for a long time. It was parked and neglected for over a decade.
