Plane Jane is out of the barn again

It's been a long time. I parked Plane Jane in the barn about 7 years ago. Mice found their way in. The chewed through the heater flap (door) that's inside the metal section controlled by one of the cables. It's the non /ac metal section right behind the glove box and above the passenger foot.
I cant find a replacement. Have they been discontinued?
Dennis

P.S I have removed ALL the interior to clean up after them.

Have you tried www.classicheartbeat.com or www.gmcpauls.com?

Originals come up for sale on the parts forum all the time.

Those mice can do some terrible things to our trucks.

Ilike'72's,

Ugh, you have tried my suggestions?

Give the Parts Forum a try then. Post a WTB (want to buy) ad. You may have to register to do so, I didn't notice if you had already or not.

Someone will have the part you need.

Re: Plane Jane is out of the barn again

I used to have the same problem with mice getting in vehicles that were parked for any amount of time, especially in the fall. I found that if you take a bar of Irish Spring soap and cut it in half and throw it under the seat it will keep them out pretty good. Plus it gives the interior a fresh smell.

He definitely needs to be a paying member to post a want to buy anywhere on the board.

I bought a '69 Dodge Super Bee a couple of years ago that had a few bars of Irish Spring soap in it (partial and full) and the mice had actually chewed on most of the bars and the car was full of mice/nests.....

So far, no evidence of mice in my garage...maybe the snakes eat them all.

I had mice invade my winter beater one summer years ago (back when A-body Chevrolets could still be used as such). The mice built a nest in the HVAC system. The only way I got the stink out was to completely remove the heater box, disassemble, and hose out with Lysol. The "Lysol Lemon Breeze" smell beat the mice smell in my opinion.

When you find your replacement flapper, and get ready to reassemble, I'd give the parts a good disinfectant treatment of some kind.

For my bass boat I take a bar of Irish Spring and whittle it into chips and put the chips in empty plastic yogurt tubs. One tub in each bin. I've been doing this since I bought the boat new in 2002. Yes, sometimes the mice eat the soap but thus far they have eaten nothing else.

I'm not overly fond of smelling Irish Spring all summer while I'm fishing but it beats the alternative.
