I like your concept on the truck and your approach so far. Tuning in for the the rest of the story. I know which character on the show you speak of, just have not watched it in the last year or so...no more HBO at the house..

Thanks, aggie91! Taking a little longer than expected to get a few parts in (due to weather) and had some trouble with carb rebuild but hopefully worked out next week. Remember reading your father/son build when I first joined the forum. That's a great truck!

Re: "Chalky White" 71 stepper

Thought I'd share a picture of my boy waxing on the rear fender as well as him sitting in it with me for the first time (seat's been out as we worked on fuel system). Spindles should be here today and just heard from Tommy at TNT Motorsports saying my wheels would be here soon.

Thanks, Mike! Ready for it to be running reliably and at least looking better on the exterior (i.e wheels/drop) - then on to the interior. Love Cloud 9 AND Square Peg! Solid rides there!

Thanks, jcramsey! I think so, too! Got a long way to go but at least that will make it semi-pleasing to my eye.

I know that's right, John! I'm sure my wife will make a video debut on the inaugural cruise when I get him running right.

Re: "Chalky White" 71 stepper

Belltech 3" drop spindles arrived tonight - albeit in one beat up box with both parts of the spindles exposed. Must've made rough trek from PA in the weather.

Terrible pics but I know you all like them so here we go.

Unwrapped them to check them out but didn't get pic. Here they are wrapped.

No kidding! I love cold weather but until I get my garage cleaned out it's really prohibiting any work on the truck.

How's it coming along? Get any new pics?

Re: "Chalky White" 71 stepper

Robbie ,I didnt get any pics ,didnt plan on going .They got the dynamat type stuff(peel/nseal from Lowes) laid in the floor and got the heavy plastic floor mat installed, got the tilt column finished up and are trying to figure out the wiring for the tach dash as we speak. Its beginning to look like a truck again .The windshield should also be in now ,had to get a new one as the old one cracked when he tried to install it .And they said that thick heavy plastic flooring was a pain to get right but it looked great.

Re: "Chalky White" 71 stepper

Alright, so I took a chance yesterday and did something I wouldn't normally do: I bought something other than a flowmaster for exhaust. Since it's a 6 cylinder and I need to focus my funds on other portions of the truck for now (and the only reason I'm looking into exhaust right now is the current system is absolutely trashed!), I listened to the advice of other trusted forum members - especially chuckmc8 - and bought an IMCO muffler on clearance from Summit. For $30 shipped to my door, I thought what could I lose!

Anyway, I bought it yesterday at 1 pm and it was at my door this afternoon (granted I only live 1 hour away but I figured it would take longer to process).

Seems to be a quality product even though it's MIC, I think it'll work fine. Just plan to run a single 2.25" pipe from manifold and turn down behind rear tire - just barely visible. Hope it sounds good and doesn't sound raspy. Want as much chambered rumble sound as possible without a ton of inner cab sound.

Re: "Chalky White" 71 stepper

Chalky finally made his maiden voyage....straight to my new buddy Ben's shop, Davis Performance. It was a fun 3 mile drive with no kick down cable connected (uphill was fun!). Amazingly he rode really smooth!

When I went to swap out the radiator the tranny cooling lines were stripped so Ben is going to swap them out, put in radiator, make kick down bracket, and finish the tune-up, set the timing, etc. Then it's on to purchasing the front end rebuild kit, and lowering springs and shocks to go with the spindles and blocks I have. Should have 3 of my wheels here this week and will focus on getting the other wheel and tires soon.

Got the seat belts in and headlight bezels on today as well as cleaned out the bed of the truck.

Here's a pic of him at the shop.

You'll be tearing up the streets in no time. Have to come out to Caffeine and Octane when it warms up a bit.

I hope you're right, Chris! Planning to be up in Canton Feb. 15th at the Williamson Bros. BBQ meet-up. What's the scoop on Caffeine and Octane?
