3 speed transmission crossmember

I'm getting ready to install my 3-speed tranny and realized I don't have the rear crossmember to support the back of the transmission.

So do I need a crossmember for the smaller transmission? I'm running a L6 250 with a 3-speed muncie on my 72 GMC.

Quite a few of the 3 speeds didn't have a x-member, just had the 4 bolts holding the trans to the bell. The bell was the member

Thanks! That goes with all my research and the only reference to a rear crossmember in the factory assembly manual is for the autos.

Yep, the bell housing cross member/mount is all you need. The trans hangs out in mid-air....

Re: 3 speed transmission crossmember

Perfect timing on the question. I was under the truck yesterday....had no cross member. 69 C10 307 three on the tree. Was pretty odd to see the spot on the tranny were the crossmember would go but nothing there! I'm thinking how the hell could i have missed this owning the truck 4 months now.
